Finally installed my stove, new construction house I had built last winter, the chimney was installed by builder, I wanted to do the stove cause I didn't know what I wanted.

I had no idea what I was in for, all the brands, styles, sizes, etc. I spent a lot of time reading this forum and I got a stack of brochures 3 inches thick.

This whole thing turned out to be way more of an expensive investment than I anticipated but I'm super stoked with the end results, thanks for the limitless knowledge that everybody has shared.

Quentin2, a warm welcome!
Install looks great, what's your floor plan?
Congrats, JB

Looks good, I thought everyone in Alaska had BK Kings

Great choice! Looking forward to hearing about long burn times! Stay warm!

Hi,

Just installed same BK, same door too. I love mine so far. Stat works great! Long burn times so far. Not that cold here. Mine has dual fan kit installed. Very quite, compared to my Buck. Huge firebox!

wow, stove is a beast!

Stove 3169
Blowers 330
8" chimney 1900
Excell ultra black double stove pipe 460
Tiling w/saw 360
Baby gate 210
1 cord wood delivered 275
Poker/ stand 26

$6730 so far, ouch!
This the first I actually added it up, I still need to build a wood shed, buy a new axe, probably a better chainsaw in my future as we'll. i would do it all over again just the same.

Thanks, I would guess most go with the princess

I watched two shows of Buying Alaska and three of the houses featured has BK Kings, two were older and one was a newer one.

Yeah I've seen a couple if those shows, maybe if bkvp is out there somewhere he could shed some light on what they sell the most.

I'm in Kodiak..everyone here on island says "don't get a cat, don't get a cat" but all I hear about in AK are the cats. I purchased a TrueNorth TN19 in Anchorage and am running that. It's a great stove, heats the house, but I'm jealous of all you long burners. I can barely get 6 hours out of a full load. Maybe my next house will be a Blaze King.

What wood are you burning?

Beetle kill spruce, standing dead cut and split this summer, I'm itching to get my hands on some birch to split and season, but for time being spruce is the only thing I can find dry, I don't know what size box you have but the king is about 4.3 and the princess is 2.8, both pretty big

Who knows maybe in a few years I'll be saying the same thing, but for now I'm very impressed

Don't forget to close the by-pass!
Looks great!

Good eye, I was heating up the cat there, although I did forget once already after I checked a load but it was almost done anyways.
Thanks

Does the king have any requirements about the length of vertical before the first bend? You don't seem to have much choice here.

Great stove, enjoy it! I can't see heating with wood being any easier than with a BK. :)

Think they recommend the same as the Princess, it's not a 90 so it'll probably be just fine.

The manual shows a picture with a two feet minimum before a 90, I didn't see anywhere where it states that only applies to a 90, I have exactly 24 inches of vertical before the 30' bend.

I was concerned about this when I was purchasing my pipe, I was intending on two 45's which would of given me more vertical but a guy who installs at the stove shop recommended I go 30's instead due to the ease of getting a brush in and out.
