I was wondering the same thing about either a closed damper or the air inlet may be stuck in the closed position ( linkage came undone ? ) . Any smoke dumping out into the room with the door open ?
No both look fine on occasions a little smoke came out but not much at all. My cap don't have a screen but it does have a price of 2.5 inch flat bar going around the middle of the cap some one told me to cut those out it decreases draft. Before I was only putting 3 logs in iv been trying to put more in to get longer burns but I have to leave the door open so long to get it really hot and I think have my wood is burnt up by then. I know I still need practice but it was working good. Now the last few nights it's been in the twentys and I cleaned out the ashes bc I thought there was to many.
