I have a Enviro Mini stove, It starts up great but does not feed pellets consistently. The auger always turns when it is called on, but pellets do not always drop. II am running pellets that are hardwood and between 1/2-3/4 of an inch long, Very consistent in size. The fire will burn down to maybe 1/2-1 inch tall flames than a bunch of pellets will fall at once and the flames become large up to 10in tall and than back down to small and so on. I can only adjust the auger trim on low and does not seem to make much diff. The dampener is set so that the flame is not torch like nor is it lazy. Is this how these stoves burn or is something wrong? What am I missing?

I have also removed the auger and removed any rough/burs and polished it. The flame stay mostly consistent on high. when its on low and medium it seems to be a tiny, almost out fire and back to a huge fire and back and forth.

I have an Enviro EF-5 and mine burns the same way. I've played with the damper but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

If you are burning your stove on a low pellet feed or idling if you prefer that's the type of fire
you are going to get . It is normal !!:)

yup, I ramp up and ramp down flame size on low a lot. goes from being almost 'coals' to a couple inch flame above the burn pot.

I think this is pretty normal. as more fuel comes in and catches, the flames grow.

ultimately, its not about the flame height. its about the heat it puts out.

captcha, mine burns up and down as well but I find my current settings; heat 3, feed 2, blower 2 keep the the flame from petering out, currently it's 25F and we gotta sometimes open a window a crack to cool it off some (1100 sq/ft bungalow)... once temps hit 5F (from memory last year) heat 3 or 4, feed 3 or 4, blower 3 or 4.... temps of -20F and its heat 4 or 5, blower 4 or 5, feed 4 dont think I used feed on 5 much... 1" of the damper rod is showing (not incl the knob) and I have a torch-like flame almost all the time... I never had much luck runnin on heat 1 or 2 unless I was burnin a real good burning pellet (trebio works best that's avail to me)

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have found that pellets small in size ( 1 in long max) work much better in my stove. I have ran some lumber jack, first choice, indeck, and heartland pellets. The first choice and lumber jacks are not consistent in size and end up not feeding consistent, they are also very hard to snap in half. The indecks are from menards and are consistent in size ( about 1/2-3/4in) they are not as hard to break. These run pretty good. The heartland are by far the best I have tried, these are also consistent in size. They are not real hard to break apart. The only thing is that they are $5.00 a bag, and the only place i can find them is my local hardware store. I am going to try running 25% heartlands in with my indecks. This is my first year with a pellet stove, so we will see how it goes. By the way I am heating a 2 story 2200 square ft 100+ year old victorian with this little bugger.

Same goes with our mini for 6 years, flame up and down. I set the Damp to what I thought looked good for the past 6 years. Decided to get a Manometer and see what is happening. I could never run the stove on 1st setting and at times it would go out on the 2nd setting. According the the meter I have had the Dampener open to far, so set it according to the meter and will see how it goes.

I burn Hamers.

That's a lot of house.

Thanks Bob, I had never realized there was a hole in the front of the stove. I had wondered where i would install my tube. I do have a magnehelic gauge, although its not as fancy as yours it should do the job. I see you have a reading of .13WC, what setting is the stove on at that point? Thanks for the info, I will check it out this week.

I've always wanted one of those 100 yr old Victorians but the heat bills have to kill your wallet... Pics please:)

When the real cold comes, you'll want those Heartlands. I've also found that they produce a lighter ash so it keeps the exhaust pathways cleaner.

Welcome to the forum!
