Found some dead wood along a field I cleared off recently. I usually would have split some of this but just cut it and brought it .
What are you guys or gals burning tonight?

elm and some sort of nut tree, cant remember what its called, horse chestnut? Pat

I have been burning mostly silver maple that I CSS last year. Funny, earlier I made a comment on here about silver maple being no good.
Well, I stand corrected! It is a good burning wood, I wish I had more.

Nice, seasoned walnut burns great! I've got red maple and black oak roaring tonight. 34 degrees outside, 80 degrees F in my stove room, high 60s everywhere else in the house, boiler is off except to warm water!!

Never had any walnut in my stacks. Not too common around here. Always looking though.

Tonight I'm burning 50/50 oak/locust. 80 inside, 32 outside. Oil company isnt getting my money this season.

Here in western ky. it is supposed to get down to 20F. tonight. Got locust and red oak burning in the lopi freedom insert. Staying pretty warm but will have to get up during the night to add with those outside temperatures.

Going into the mid twenties here in the Tropics of Virginia tonight. I just loaded the 30-NC with 15% red and white oak. And holding that sucker down is like trying to throw a saddle on a running horse.

Im feeling the effects of a two day cold snap, supposed to hit 18° tonight. I have apple in the stove. A blown down Jersy macintosh. Its mixed with Red maple and beech.
In the log hoop next to the stove; Red maple, big tooth aspen, gray birch, chestnut oak, beech, slippery elm, American elm.
The 2 predominent is Red maple and red elm. Apple and oak for tonight.

We had a fair-sized, long-dead Oregon white ash blow down on the property a couple of weeks ago. Most of it tests out at 16-18% MC, and we got close to a cord from that tree... it's what we'll be burning for the next few weeks. I'm just splitting the rounds as needed from day to day, and this will give our pre-existing stacks another month or more to season further. Great wood, but it does seem to burn rather fast for a medium-density hardwood.

Last night . .. some black locust shorts.

Right now . . . some maple (red or sugar -- not sure), one white pine split and some beech.

I'm doing mostly ash and cherry right now. I'll throw a piece of oak in for the overnight hours and have a bit of silver maple to get things started quickly in the morning.

Mulberry, and cherry. We are in the middle of a cold snap... for this time of year at least.
I'll probably switch to black walnut, and cherry when we get back to normal/seasonal temperatures.

Elm, cherry, walnut, ash, hedge, and beech. I guess I should have said a mix.

uh, if you come upon any walnut logs of any significant length, better list it for sale, not burn it. with the whole MCM think hot now, alot of wood workers are using it.

28 low last night, with 20 WC. left the Morso running last night at 12:30 when i went to bed. this morning it was 65 in common area. didn't use 1 drop of oil throughout the night, yes!

my house came with a small Regency on one side of the chimney; I added the Morso, 1.5 cu box, on the other side. boy, there's nothing like a few $600+ oil-bill gut punches to make a stove make sense. and we only have a small 150 gal tank.

Since we've remodeled to open concept, the air circulates much better in the common area.
