Yep, burn Trebio 98 percent of the time. experiment with other brands, Canawick etc. No here in north Central Ontario not many brands to choose from, tend to favor a high percentage of softwood much hotter burn. Now I heard today that a new pellet plant in Wawa is opening soon, employ 200 people. Cutting your own wood is the least expensive been doing it for 45 years or so on my place, but not any more. Buying wood is more expensive than pellets $255.00 a cubic plus the bugs and mess and delivery, I would burn 5 cubic a season.

tried curran last year sooty poor burning never again, satisfaction burns ok but not too hot, trebio burns good with good heat last brand I seen here is canawick for $6bux... not sure I tried those but pretty sure I'm not payin that much per bag!!

That is what I use and now on sale for 3.99@rona. They seem to burn just OK, lots of ash is normal I would think..

I use Cubix and comfort have for years old habits are hard to break
and the delivery is free

Been burning Cubix, Northern, Curan, Ambiance and stuff from Wally world and the Home Despot. Only burn the last two when nothing else is available....lots and lots of ash!

I'll add to that: Trebios are available at WalMart here in Nova Scotia. I scored big back in October when they were on sale at one store in Halifax for $4:00 per 40lb bag.

Just scored some Comfort's for $4.19 a bag. Cubex at $4.99, suppose to be the same as Comfort. Trebio's at Wallymart at $4.97. Ambiance & LG's also available. Rona's Granulco's. Lacwood at someplaces and getting a wider base. I just picked up some Haliburton's at $5.10 a bag. Mcfeeters at TSC stores. I'm sure other makes are around if you look hard enough. CTC Canawicks, $5.99 ouch.

Allot of LG soft wood in my area ..nice and cheap but not allot of heat . I like the Curran softies they burn really good in my stove and low ash for me . I also like Northern hard wood very good pellet ..... Rona in my area now has LG hard wood called maximum !! Has any body tried them

Here in NS I have tried Comfy Cozy, Trebio, Granule, Canawick and Eastern Embers. For my Whitfield stove Eastern Embers burn the best and I've stuck with them the past 2 winters.

Here in the Fraser valley we are close to some of the bigger pellet plants like Okanagan, but they aren't distributed here!
So far have seen Pinacle fir for $300 ton, Cleanburn for $275 ton, Trebio 5.50 bag Can tire, Firemaster 5.99 bag Home Depot, Picked up a ton of Eagle valley for $200 on sale at Rona.

Tried some Truburn pellets from Truro,NS Feed's Needs, 33 lbs bags for $3.99

Burn well and give a good heat but lots of clinkers compared to Eastern Ember.

es from Kent for my enviro ef3 stove way too long of a pellets for my stove. So far an auger bushing, now looks like my augerr motor, & My be the auger, help does anybody know about the best place to get parts shipped to Canada

I'm running Ambiance, lots of clinkers, dirty glass and ash...want to try a good softwood to compare.

Unfortunately, many of the west coast softies end up in the US market rather than Canada...

Trebio available at Wal-Mart and CT here (used as my shoulder pellet until the "pellet palace" was done). Cannawick at CT too. Only problem with both those stores is that availability can be iffy in my area. Try your local hardware stores. Noticed that more are stocking pellets as stoves become more popular. Our North American has Spruce Pointes (haven't tried them in my stove yet or checked out price). Our local Home Hardware has Heartland (from Spearfish, ND). $5.99 per bag which is on the higher side but reliable supply and burn well with lower ash and lots of heat. Your not likely to see them in your area... I live in a border area so can get pellets from the US too.

Best to try a couple of bags when trying new pellets before jumping in for large quantities...

As to the new plant in Wawa ... are they industrial grade or for home heating? New plant in Thunder Bay is industrial grade for use by Hydro One for the conversion of it's Atikokan coal fired plant to wood pellet.

I have tried Satisfaction from HD for $4.97/bag. Was not impressed. LOTS of clinkers with burn pot constantly needing cleaning, sometimes twice daily. Recently switched to Lacwood and have had my better success. Burn pot needing cleaning only twice weekly now. Looking into purchasing directly from the manufacturer for next season. Will keep you posted.

Trebio the best I've tried in NB so far.

I was speaking with the guy who runs the distribution for Lacwood. He said they only ship to retailers and not customers as to not take away business from their retailers. I will be attempting again to purchase directly using another approach as the prices per bag from the retailer are $5.50 and I just don't want to pay sticker price. I managed to find out the retailer cost and now that I know that, I can't just spend the retail price. Apparently if you purchase a skid from the retailer, the price drops to $5.25 per bag which is still over $1 more than cost with shipping. The only catch is to keep that shipping cost, you must purchase an entire truckload consisting of 22 pallets of 65 bags each.

I'm about 1.5 hrs north of North Bay and we have a new pellet plant that started last year, they are doing a softwood pellet to be shipped via rail to the atikokan generating station but they will sell direct to consumers at the plant, they sell for $120 / ton and are a decent pellet, my neighbour has burnt them so far this year and is heating over 6000 sq feet of house and heavy equipement shop. he loves them so far. says hardly any ash and very clean burn. only hitch is they won't bag them, have to buy in bulk, bring a trailer and they will fill a ton tote bag for you. pm me if you want any more info as i know the owner personally.

Do you have any percentages for your pellets? Ash and such.
