My stash of 'Kroil' penetrating oil that's lasted me years is finally dwindling. It works better than anything else that I have tried.

No one seems to carry it locally, and between thieving shipping and handling costs in general and hazmat costs in particular, I dread a situation where the cost to ship is likely to equal the cost of the product.

Any suggestions on good places to get it at good prices for product+shipping?

Thanks!

Kroil is good and so is PB Blaster which can be bought at HD or Lowes I believe..

I am lucky that I work for a company that uses it and keeps it in stock, and because we are a aerospace company everything that we get in gets a sticker on it with a expiration date

anything expired or without a sticker cannot be out on the floor or in the chemical lockers anymore and basically get tossed in the HAZ MAT disposal drums or finds it way to peoples lunch box's

If you go to the Kroil website they will often have a "Deal", which is typically 2 of something for a pretty good price.

Interesting- thanks- I have heard of the acetone/ATF recipe before; I'd always been skeptical simply because acetone is so watery and volatile I'd have thought that it couldn't really contribute all that much as a penetrant; but maybe it helps the ATF find its way into smaller nooks than the ATF would get on its own.

I have a half pail of unused generic Dexron in the barn that is no good for my current vehicle, so I will grab some acetone to give it a try as a mix.

I've heard that the trick to using the acetone-atf mix is to keep the components separate until use. The original container for the acetone, be it metal can or nail polish remover bottle, will do a good job for storage. Use a disposable syringe to draw up an amount of atf, and then draw up the same amount of acetone, shake, apply.

If you want Kroil, try your local gun stores.
Thanks, but I live in nowheresville and although there are some good gun stores, I've not spotted Kroil at any of them; I guess I could look harder, as I have never specifically looked for it there.

I don't get to work with anything nearly that cool; I've had some jobs where the politics should have gone in a hazmat drum, but that's another story...

GIBBS is better than Kroil. I have used Kroil for years buying in 5 gal lots direct from the manufacturer it is good but
Gibbs better. I don't know where to buy it as the last case was bought at a show. As one said why it didn't creep out of the can well Gibbs did and can only be bought in pressured cans because of this reason, try it you will like it.
