Does anyone have any experience heating a 1,500 Sq/Ft home with the Drolet 1800i Insert? Wouldn't be totally dependent on the Wood Insert, we also have a heat up. I had posted earlier about the Century Heating CW2500 but seems it may be to small or at least be a lot of work with the smaller firebox. Some folks suggested the Drolet 1800i insert.

Contact member wood4free via PM. He had this insert in a fairly drafty 1700 sqft. house in western PA. He traded up to a larger stove, but it's colder up here. He could probably give you more insight.

I believe there are better choices, like the PE Super or even the Summit, larger inserts by Regency, Quadrafire, Travis, Enviro 1700, or even the medium sized Buck. Actually with Travis the Republic 1750 with it's square firebox might be a better lower cost option than the Escape 1800, though it may cost more.

And although I mentioned the Escape and Century 2900 as better options than the Century 2500, which imo, is just too small, especially if you need an overnight burn, they are not ideal, and only should be considered if cost is an overriding concern (which it really shouldn't be unless you're only planning on using it for a season or two. And even then, you might be better off, trying to find something good that's used.

I actually had the Escape 1400 model which had a 1.8cf firebox. The Escape 1800 has a larger firebox which Drolet claims is 2.4 cf. A sister company Century Heating also makes a similar unit - Model CW2900. Both the Drolet and Century inserts can be obtained from Northern Tool.

Thanks for the replies. I already have the liner priced out, My Wife and I talked and the most we can budget for a stove right now is $1,522.00 shipped to my door.
