Clearance to combustible side wall

Ok so I was running the insert (century cw2500) at 500 plus yesterday. And I noticed my cabinet to the right of the stove had some spots that were 104deg using a infra red gun.

My manual calls for 12" from firebox to combustible side wall. The cabinet is 13.25 inches away.

Is it still too close? Should I put some metal on the side of it? Does that make it non combustible.


Also I. Know there is no front protection. I'm on a slab and the bricks work is getting done this weekend

Generally, if you can place your hand on it and keep it there, you will be allright. Keep an eye on it and the mantle above for any changes over the season.
 
104! My side wall near my Englander 30 gets to 160-170 when I have nuclear secondaries on a full load and 800+ stove top temps!!! Heck, my body temp is warmer than 104 when I have my 30 going full tilt!

I think the maximum safe limit that the stove builders test for is 115 above ambient. Anything below that is considered safe.

Wow I thought mine was getting warm at 140.

I've got much better control of the stove these days, but it does happen on occasion if I'm getting too much draft. But when the stove is putting out that much heat I have the blower going full tilt as well....so the wall doesn't get as hot.

The NC30 is a heat monster.
