A few weeks ago I got a message from my kindergarten teacher saying that she and her husband had several trees cut down and wanted to know if I wanted the pieces that were too large to fit in their small wood stove. They are both retired and have more firewood than they need right now. Thanks to help from a friend on a neighbor farm, I was able to score a large load of oak. We were able to load the wood using the front end loader on a small tractor and use the conveyor on the truck to unload it. That sure beat loading it by hand.

The large rounds in the front are from today's haul. The rounds and smaller pieces on the left were from last week. I had been working on the earlier wood since early last spring.

What I like about this photo is that we can't see the ends of the stacks in the background, so we can assume that they stretch to the horizon in both directions like the distant hills.

that's a nice score , very nice neighbors indeed !:)

Gotta love your neighbors! Remember not to forget them when you can return the favor

I got about a cord+ of white oak last year from a nice neighbor like that. Pictures are somewhere on the forum.

I'm working on it. A few people asked if I was building a fort. My wife and have two daughters. One in 6th grade and one in 4th. It's never to early to keep the boys away. :)

You must be the youngest Hearth.com member! Only in kindergarten.

This is the same scene the next day (11/24/13). It melted but there is more coming down today.
