Hello,

I have an Enviro Milan and every now and then I notice a sound coming out from what I think is the exhaust blower. It sounds like a squealing or squeaking sound. It's as if you can hear it spinning, it's just loud. I plan on cleaning it out over the weekend as a 1st step but is this anything to be worried about? It's about 3 years old so maybe it's just age.

I'm asking now because it's an insert and as long as I'm pulling the beast out from inside the fireplace I would like to try any suggestions while it's out.

Thanks!

Three years seems like too short for a failure, so hopefully that isn't the case. Do you have your manual? Any blower maintenance notes in there? Some stoves require lubrication of the blowers as part of regular maintenance.

Yeah, I'm going to do the suggested maintenance but I just wasn't sure how long they're suppose to last. As I said, it's not easy pulling that thing out so as long as the "hood is up" I wanted to do anything I possibly could or should.

My friend has a vc insert about 3 years old and the bearings on his blower motor went! He had to retrofit something from brass which is what the original bearings were made of. He told me it is a shaft that the solid bearing Were mounted on, sounds like a bad design to me. I am not sure if your blower is the same design though.
