Heading to grandma's house for t-day. The stove will be going out for the first time in 3 week. It's a strange feeling.

Yeah, I hear ya. We're going away skiing this weekend, and i'll have to turn the heat on in the house for the first time this year, just to maintain 50 degreees or so in the house. I'm not happy about doing that. But it beats freezing pipes and coming home to a 30* house.

Ha! My anniversary is in dec...gonna go away for two nights. Almost don't want to because of the stove/turning on the heat. Guess if I want more anniversaries....gonna have to suck it up. Lol

Or buy a Blaze King!

Update: my flight to new york got cancelled. my stove is back on. A turkey I bought 20 mins ago is in a brine. The world is back to normal.

My stove is cold as I type this because I have family members coming tomorrow that as soon as they walk in my front door they start the same ol song and dance "My god its hot in here" I here that 1000 times through out the evening. So if they like to freeze they use natural gas to heat by the way then I'll just freeze them. Problem is its 24 outside with snow and wind chill of 13 and 73 in here and i'm freezing. Don't know if I'll make it to tomorrow evening without a fire.

Yeah or "Its cold in here why don't you build a fire". Honestly I should just have my normal running fires and say the heck with what they say this is my house but I get so sick of "its hot in here" I want to scream

When we have guests over for the holidays, I remind them to leave the corny festive sweaters home and dress for a beach party.

Our families are all over the place and no one wants to go to anyone elses, so we're hanging out here by our warm stove :) Which turned out well for the neighbors who are away and had their boiler die (well it's stuck unregulated so it just runs full bore and overheats) T he plumber they called before leaving because it was making weird noises came over in a panic last night because he couldn't reach them and couldn't just leave it off or the pipes would freeze but he didn't want to stay there all night turning it on and off, poor guy! We offered to tend their stove too but they are afraid of having a fire with no one there (even though we're literally next door) so we've got a few electric heaters plugged in and we just go over a few times to make sure no breakers are tripped. It's in the low 20s so we definately need to keep it above freezing.

Yeah all my family knows I keep it between 80 and 90 in here and they still show up in heavy sweat shits  Its 58 degrees in this house and i'm running around in two pair of sock two sweat shits and jeans when usually its t-shirt and shorts. Don't think i'm going to make it much longer might have to get a fire started very soon

I usually start letting the house cool down the day before company arrives. All of them pay thru the nose for heat so of course their house is like a "meat locker". Add to that when they arrive in any numbers the temps start to go up one degree every hour or two with no help from the stove.

People know when coming to my house that you can wear shorts and t-shirt. Some of my older neighbors love it. They start drinking wine, they feel like they are only 80 years old.

My wife would absulutely kill me if the house was that hot. Not like I could get the house that hot with my stove anyway, but she'd freak out. I keep my house between 68-70. If the temp hits 67, she's chilly and wants a fire. If it hits 71, she's opening windows complaining that it's a sauna in here. [bangs head].

Needless to say, I've become somewhat skilled now in keeping the perfect fires to stay within the "confort zone" and avoid hearing complaining.
