I've been putting this off even though I know I it's the smart thing to do. Had a near miss with the saw over the weekend and I'm not procastinating any longer!

Are there any "sales" going on right now for chaps? From what I've read the Labonville full wrap may be the way to go but I could be talked into another brand.

The labonville appears to be nice and gets good reviews. I personally am wearing Stihl chaps - just what the dealer had on hand when I bought my last saw. They have been pretty tough and wear resistant to date.

I got the Labonville full wraps about 8 years ago as a Christmas gift from the Mrs. Very nice gift and I wouldn't pull the start cord without them from day1.

Another Labonville full wrap user here. Don't even know I have them on anymore. Durable and not too uncomfortable.

I use Swedepro full wraps , just because ...... If I was in the market again , I'd just as likely go with Labonville full wraps.
Never heard a bad thing about either brand . Neither is what might be called inexpensive ,but I figure they'd be a lot less than one trip to the E R for even a minor saw bite .

Labonville full-wrap 6-ply for me. Shop the Labonville site, BaileysOnline, and whoever else sells them for the best price/deal/shipping combo.

Gosh darn it! I was just about to post about buying chaps and you went ahead and beat me to it!
I haven't had any near misses, but I was starting to get that gut feeling that it would be wise to do it soon.
I just ordered Husqvarna Navy blue apron chaps off of Amazon. Not too bad of a deal and it had good reviews.

If you go through brush and thorny plants to get to your trees, you'll appreciate full-wrap models.

The trade off for full wrap chaps is they are hotter in the summer and plan on buying suspenders. The ANSI upgrades to chaps over the years has made them a lot heavier and without suspenders they want to slip down. Labonvilles usually runs 20% off sales this time of year at their stores but on occasion they apply it to mail orders.

I was hoping somebody would say they have full wraps that aren't too hot in the summer. One can wish huh?

Actually I do most of my cutting in cooler weather anyways so full wraps it is. Suspenders...this will be a first for me :)

^^^^ They aren't overly hot ,or un comfortable . To be honest, apron chaps aren't all that much cooler.
It took me a close call to realize that inconvenience of full wrap is outweighed by their benefits .
I was just out your way a couple of weeks ago ( Avis) , picking up some Sunoco Optima fuel .
Beautiful part of Pa . to say the least !

I'm thankful to get the tip on the full wrap. My wife was set to order the apron style and at the last moment I was able to change the order to full wrap. Whew! Can't wait to get them in.

I have Labonville full wraps, and I have been very happy with them. I just wish they were longer. I went by the instructions when measurng for length, and I shoulda went one size bigger like my gut told me to.

On the other hand, I bought some Husqvarna chaps at TSC when they were dumping all their Husky stuff. I never had them out of the package, and decided to give them to my BIL-to-be when I picked up a saw for him. I had to try them on before I gave them away, and I must say that I would buy them again if I needed to. Much better fit than I expected.

That's good to know. Those are the ones that I bought. They had a decent price on them for "Cyber Monday".

Now watch me have an incident this winter and have to buy some, after I give my spare away.

Just ordered Labonville Full Wrap. Got another load (small) of log length from a tree service (free !...no pics yet), so I'll wait till these get here....I just have a bad feeling, other than the Wife is gonna be upset about the $$$

Just explain that being mad about something that keeps you safer makes you question her motives.:p

I'm buying the Elvex chaps and helmet, we just got them at the FD I work for and they are awesome
