So, I have about a 1/2 ton of Maine's Choice pellets from two years ago and I figured I burn them this week as it was not so cold. I got up this AM shut the stove down, had breakfast, went to the gym and came home for the weekly Sunday AM cleaning and that's when it hit the fan!

Ash equaling that of Mt. St. Helen's and clinkers the size of a VW. On top of that I received a sternly worded letter from the Granules LGs in the garage about their extreme displeasure with their lower grade neighbors and how they were bringing down property values! I tried to tell them that all pellets are created equal and are endowed with certain inalienable rights by the creator. Well that went over like a "you know what" in church. I've always considered myself a fair man and tried to reason them, but no dice. The Maine's Choice rep simply stated "can't we all just get along". The LGs were not impressed and insisted that I relegate them to a horse paddock somewhere.

We are on the verge of some serious cold air arriving here in New England and I had no alternative but to go back to the LGs.

The Maine's Choice pellets are threatening to sue me for breach of contract, while the LGs have filed their own suit for slander, restraint of trade and anything else their lawyers can think of.

I prayed to the heavenly father for advice, but at this time I have not heard a peep. All wanted was a nice Sunday to relax by the stove, watch the Pats carve up the Browns and have a little down time. Now I have a full fledged riot on my hands. I only have about 23 bags of Maine's Choice, while the LGs equal about 4 tons!

Anybody else had this type of situation? Stay warm my friends!

If you don't listen to the LG's the Maine's Choice will form a union and demand equal rights.

If that happens you will be forced to buy/use Infernos and form an investigational sub-committee
to determine the quantitative evaluation of bio-mass combustibles.

This will set off a fire storm of litigation and in the end we will all be forced to burn rainforest-free/ergonomically engineered vapor-fuel.

Mix-em 50/50 to get rid of the cheap pellets and threaten pitchforks and gasoline to the bags if the Main's choice won't quiet down.

Nope...much worse....much much worse....stove is running fine ( I say while knocking on wood).....but my cable is out and I am waiting for the cable guy to show up...if he is not here by the time the Pat's come on I am going to have a riot of my own!!!!

LOL. Don't worry, Maine's Choice is just blustering. They'll burn themselves out in no time.

I just picked up 10 bags at Lowes because they were CHEAP. Sounds like I will have to burn them 50/50 with something else to get rid of them.

Ive burned Maines choice for 3 years now never a clinker lots of ash though. When you can get them for $3.50 at lowes Ive learned to deal with the extra ash doesnt much matter in my stove ash pan is huge.

Y'all prpbably had plenty of time to clean the stoves before the Pats game. Remember, they only play the second half anyhow.

One of the guys I work with who buys everything on how much it costs talked the boss in to buying them. He's lucky he still has a job!

And sometimes not even that ;)

Yes but what a second half it was!!!!

It was :)

Gotta eliminate the cheap shots. I know it's a barbaric sport, but that crap has to stop.

As you've discovered, there is a difference between cheap and inexpensive.

In truth.....
I burned a ton of Maine's Choice a couple of years ago I think.

Not a bad shoulder season pellet.

For the right price (~$200 a ton) I would buy them again.

I like them Ive bought some this year at about $3.35 a bag ( 10 off 50 at Lowes and then 5% back using shopdiscover) . Find me another pellet for that price that burns clean... I actually mixed them with my Cubex which I paid $280 a ton for to get the cubex to burn!!

mix in 10% MC as filler in the good stuff

What's a "clinkers the size of a VW"??

My experience is Pellets dont age well. Once there out of their shrink wrap cocoon its use it or lose it time....

Bought a couple bags to test. Not great but better than the ton of Lignetics i bought this year. Burned no better or worse than some Stove Chow I'm burning. Burned slightly better than Green Team I tested. Would not want to burn them as primary pellet. And I do like a good game not to be a blow out one way or the other to keep it interesting, but our New England boys are cutting it a little close.

Yep. We can kiss any hope of going deep into the playoffs goodbye with Gronk out. We were barely beating some pretty crappy teams even WITH him in the lineup.

Agreed....this team is so beat up there isn't any way we can go very far into the post season. The up side for me is now that I know that, I don't have any expectation that it will happen.

I'm burning LG's right now and i'm not really impressed with them. they are one of the ashest pellets I ever burned. If I don't burn on a high setting I have to clean my stove every other day and empty the ash pan.
