Always nice to work with FAMILY. The "old timers" can REALLY work!

I gotta say though, that "position" your Dad is cutting that tree from made me shutter.

Nice tree cabin by the way!!

That's because we weren't spoiled with electronic games;lol

Amen to that! My FIL is almost 70 and he and I still cut together every now and then. He works either the saw or the splitter and I do the heavy lifting. I'm not complaining a bit - I'll do that for him as long as he's able.

I dont disagree with the angle of the cut but what are you gonna say to a fello that has more knowledge of cutting than I will ever have. He is accustomed to a much heavier saw, my little 250 is like a toy to him. He likes it though and bought one for himself, his first sthil. He was walking the leaner down here in 8' lengths.

White Pine, I think you are right, he stills shows me a few things every now and then. When we were cutting this weekend we had a 200' walk with the tree lenghts back to the bike, carrying on our backs. I went back with a couple loads and then saw the a few sticks half way back the path. He said I carry it half way and you carry it half way. Apparently that's how he and his brother always did it, made perfect sense, less walking for everyone.

? If you have the same number of trees being carried the same total distance, it seems as though it wouldn't make any difference whether you make twice as many trips, but only half the distance, or half the trips, but twice the distance. You may change direction twice as often when you're carrying half way, but it should be the same total distance walked for each person, no?

What's old about 65??;) I didn't start cutting and burning wood 'till I was 60!

I work alone, and cut, carry, split, stack and burn anywhere from 4 - 6 cords a year.

Mr. doctor swears it's the best thing I've done for my health after a mainly desk job career.

That's great stuff-enjoy him while you can, things can change in an instant.

Good to see stuff like this-all you see and hear is bad news lately....sickness, cancer, deaths, etc. Keep up the good work!

I hear your logic, but trust me, it works. I would rather carry a 90lb stick 100' ten times, than carry it 200' five times. Another load today, snow almost stuck us in though.

Sure dozes work, when young 20-50 ya sure grab and go no problem,I could cut and load 2 cord a day cut in 4' so called cord-wood size. Now I work smarter not harder 4x4 tractor, farmie winch, wood processor smaller heavy duty
home made splitter with hydrolic winch which can draw rounds and or lift table with several rounds rolled onto it
sure makes life easier this all comes with age should have had these tools years ago but still nothing like youth just did what needed to be done.
