"A former Weyerhaeuser mill in Wawa is becoming a wood pellet plant. Rentech of California is re-tooling the plant for a production start-up date of next year. The plant will employ 35 people plus there are 200 forest related jobs to collect the needed wood. Riding MPP Mike Mantha has been working with the American company for 18 months to take over the idle mill. Mantha says the province is supporting Rentech’s plan to re-tool the mill. Rentech has a contract with a United Kingdom power generating plant to supply it with wood pellets. By 2016 the plant is expected to produce 360,000 tonnes of wood pellets annually."
