Never saw 'em in my neck of the woods.....

A great pellet . I either have those or Vermonts for the cold days . Glass Stays clean for almost 2 weeks with very little ash . Find them to have to much heat for the shoulder season !

Burning some black hills off and on. Honestly, i'm not too impressed. They are good and clean, but the heat is not there for a $300+ ton pellet. the barefoots and the lacretes I have smoke them.

Bad Dad, I plan to pick some up this weekend based on your reccomendation. Thanks for the tip

I'm with briansol on this one. I tried the Black Hills last year and they were OK, but not worth over $300/ton. I would take Vermonts over them for heat output. I can get them a couple miles from the house but I only bought a few bags to try. I need to pick up a couple bags this year and see if they're better than last. I did a trial burn last night with Spruce Pointes, last year's Vermonts and this year's Vermonts. I did get one bum load of Vermonts last year that I need to compare again to see the differences. I sent an e-mail to Barefoot asking where to get them near me. Wells, ME or Keene, NH....both waay to far to go to get pellets.

I'm using lacretes as well and love em. Clean and hot. I bought two bags this past weekend of the barefoots and the are HOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT boy! Think I'm gonna take a ride and score some more

I burnt both Black Hills and "standard" Okanagans last year. The Black Hills are hot, but I found I preferred the standards...

Okanagan's? This pellet is all hype, I bought 1 1/2 tons 2 years ago, and I didn't like them one bit. Heat output is just okay, Hamer Hot ones is better. The fines are the most of any pellet I've ever used. I used them as beginning and end of season burns. That's about all they are good for. Ohh and they are priced more then Hamer's, but why?

I have bought them in the past great pellet but at that price I prefer the La Cretes or the energex softwoods . They burned very clean for me no issue there . In my area they were always having supply issues ( last 2 years anyways ) so I haven't burned any for 3 years . -8 here now and they energex softwoods are buring perfect !! Have the Vermonts on standby . Cost wise for me Oaks are 289 a ton , la Crete 280 , Vermonts 280 v and energex 235 . This are all self hall prices , but I'd have to say even if the energex were the higher priced of all of them I'd still buy them during this cold snap ( about 10 days ) I've burned about 16 bags and stove is just now getting a little dirty and ash pan is about 3/4 full .
Back to my ? In my head I remember reading somewhere that oak made a few different products ? Anyone know ?

I tried a few bags of the Oaks softwood platinum. a few bags of North Country and some Crabbe softwood pellets. They all were great! North Country performed just as good if not better then the Oaks. We're trying out softwood pellets for the first time this year. We have a Englander pellet stove. Didn't like to burn hardwood pellets! So we started looking for softwood. Seeing how good pellets are more expensive. We went with the Crabbe for cost reasons. Crabbe produce more ash of the three. Next year I think I'll get one ton of Crabbe's and a ton of North Country! Happy burning! !

That's it! BTU. I bought a few tons of Okies because of him. Back then, they were fine. Hot and little ash, but pricy. Now, as far as I know, no one around here carries them.

I know East Coast Lumber on 111 in East Hampstead carries them.

Thanks Sam! I know East Coast Lumber well. If I'm in the area, I may have to buy a bag or two to see how they are now.
