I like the ultra better than the parlor. It's a bit taller so that means less bending to put wood in :)

I LIKE'M BIG...I LIKE'EM CHUNKY...
No seriously though...I'd love to have a BKPrincess in my cellar...just set it and forget it! Loads of heat!!!
Congrats, nice stove!

Ok, here is a close up.

Time to close the bypass :)

Great looking hearth.
Good stove. The blowers really help (just a tad noisy though)
I am happy with mine.
Just trying to kick up some flames for the pics.

Thing of beauty. The hearth, not the stove. The stove needs legs.
I have installed both the Ultra and the parlor, I was not impressed with stability of the legs, they have a bit of give to them. I also intended to use the blowers, therefore I like the convection deck and side shields.

I like the King but I would also need a cook surface for tea pot, steamer, etc.

I see that the ultra does not have a big enough cook top for this. Does the parlor have a larger cook top?

The Ultra comes standard with the otherwise optional shields, including the "convection deck" (shield) on top, that channels air from the rear blowers over the top. Without it there's plenty of room.

Can you say more? Do you have durability or functionality concerns with the legs (e.g. wobbling to loosen the flue), or do you just not like the feel?

I'm deciding between the Classic and Parlor (don't want shields), and was leaning towards the Parlor for looks and height.

The give seems to come from the body of the stove, not the legs. I foresee no future failure due to this, it has a half inch bolt in each leg. I thought I wanted the legs before I saw them in action, I am glad I went with pedestal. I have never liked blowers, but I gotta say, I like the way this heats, it's a very even heat, not a blast of heat in one part of the house. I haven't tried out the ash pan yet, It's only been about 4 days and see no where near enough ash build up to even consider pulling the plug on it.

Thanks Webby, that's very helpful, since I like the look of the legs, and was thinking stronger ones would stiffen things up...

Congratulations on your success, that's a sweet setup! Burn long, and prosper. :)

Do you still have the King or did you replace it with the Ashford? Which one do you like better?

That King is long gone! Lets see how my memory is, King out, Lopi Leyden, Lopi CC, Ashford. I know I'm missing one or two between the King and Leyden. ;lol

When I had the King, we were trying to heat this entire 70's L shaped ranch from the far end. I only sold the King because I needed the cash at the time. After it was gone is when I decided to add a second stove in the middle of the house. What a difference it made!
The Leyden was a turd, the Cape Cod did the job just fine. I still needed a stove for this far end of the house when it was real cold, after seeing how good the Ashford did I decided to swap the cod out. The CC made enough heat, just not for the entire day, I was just tired of coming home to a cold house! Its the best move I have made so far!

Thanks. Based on what I'm seeing with a few space heaters, I think the Ashford would be adequate for our house. Seems like it holds heat well. If there's a problem, it will be when temps drop unusually low. But given that house temps were slowly rising with four space heaters when it was in the low teens outside, an Ashford would probably do the job. If I can convince my wife to go with the King, I'll do that just to be on the safe side.
