Hello All,

I have an Enviro Mini connected to a Skytech 3301P wireless thermostat. Since I have had the stove running, I used the stove in On/Off mode with the thermostat. This worked just fine and automatically started and stopped the stove as needed. I was reading that the High/Low mode was better for the igniter and decided to switch the stove to this setting. Once the stove shut off automatically, I made the change last night at about 9pm. This morning I heard my electric heat kick on and new that the pellet stove was not running. I went out and the Skytech thermostat showed a temperature of 60 degrees in the house which is under the 2 degree swing of 65 degrees as the thermostat is set to 67 degrees. I had to manually start the stove. Is this normal behavior for the high/low mode? I was under the impression that the thermostat would automatically turn on the stove for high/low mode once the desired set temperature with swing was hit. Now I'm thinking I must manually turn it on and the thermostat is only helpful for setting the stove to high and/or low modes based on temperature read.

Your advice is much appreciated,

Mike

Hey Mike! I think, in High Low, the stove has to be running first. I could be wrong but it could be as simple as that. Am I right, guys?

Yes its correct, if you switch over to Hi/Low from Auto/Off you have to manually start the stove up first, it won't start via the Thermostat. Once its running it will start cycling fine from High when there is a call for heat to Low when the thermometer is not calling for heat anymore. Also set your heat level on what you want when you start it up. or some times it remembers what it was set to last. Once its set up it will cycle, but the led will not show the low setting, it stays lit at whatever level you have it set for on the high side.

You should be fine.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I was thinking it was more complex than it is but this does make sense as once it is on it will always run. Thanks!

One more question about high/low mode. I understand that in low mode the high settings are shown on the control board. However when it is in low mode can I still adjust the feed trim? My problem is that in low mode the fire is going out and all I have is 'coals' and eventually gets smothered. If I cannot adjust here do you know how I can adjust the low mode while keeping the high mode set?

Thanks for the response. I figured out the auto on/off and had all settings right. I'm new to this high/low mode but after reading too much about the igniter possibly going out early in on/off I want to make sure I have everything set. So basically I can adjust the high mode to one setting (combustion and feed trim) and low mode to another setting (combustion and feed trim) while in high/low mode? And the stove will show the high settings the entire time? I guess I just want to confirm that I can adjust each mode separately while in high/low mode but I just have to wait to adjust settings while in the respective mode.

To the best of my knowledge it doesn't work that way. Feed or combustion trim are global settings and apply to all modes. Can't have different feed or trim settings per mode.

hmmm , on my stove made by the same company , auger trim only adjusts the low setting .

download your manual from the enviro www if you don't have a paper copy :)

from the manual:
  1. COMBUSTIONAIRTRIMBUTTON:IncreasesorDecreasesthe Fan voltage by 2.5volts on all feed settings. When pressed all lights on Heat Level Indicator will come on except the one that is the set point. Hold Trim Button down and press the UP or DOWN Heat Level Arrow to adjust setting. #3 Light is the default setting.

Depending on Fuel quality Ignition problems may occur at higher altitudes, this can be resolved by trimming the Combustion Fan to a higher setting.
