I would love a quick 101 with some of the abbreviations hereabouts.

Thanks in advance!

Yikes, there are so many. I don't know of any particular reference for abbreviations used here.

How about throwing some out there that you've seen so far?

N-S
E-W

A couple to start..

EW - loading wood side to side (east - west)

NS - loading wood front to back. (north south). Like on a map.

More please...:)

Sounds like an ideal starting point! Pun not intended!

I guess I'm limited to EW with my rig in that case. :) narrow and long box..

I thought the 118 was long north to south? Most small stoves are wider than deep which is restrictive to E-W loading, but yours seems ideal for N-S.

Or maybe my explanation was confusing. N-S loading means you can load the wood in lengthwise front to back.

I can be a bit dyslexic at times. I was trying to comprehend it, but now it's dawning on me that orientation is tip to tip not orientation of face to face.

Got it now!

My fault for being too brief...

I have been used E-W loading all my life in that case. I will certainly play around with cuts and splits moving forward. I like being able to grid things to get them up and going. Maybe I have just been so used to it that way, that I am fighting change. lol

Burger King uses alien technology???
lol

Check out Wendy's stock though, quite a sleeper of a company going up against BK and MickeyD's

There may be other 118 users here that can help with getting the most out of your particular stove. Most of us like NS loading because most stoves tend to burn front to back, but yours may have different characteristics, I don't know.

I think to the munchy seeking, slow motion stoner going through their drive thrus pretty much anything seems possible.

It is a classic front to back (slow cigar burn) burning unit for sure. I was just referring to getting it started and letting the air work itself around as many wood edges as possible.

I am loving this stove though!

Anytime you see an abbreviation you can't figure out, chime in. We've all had to wade through them. And every once in awhile, someone invents a new one!

Thanks! I work with copy and love words, so I'll aspire to learn enough from the many sages in here to perhaps coin a new one.

Loving it in here more and more!

A copy writer? Maybe you know my step daughter...;lol

Anyway, this is a good place to hang out. Welcome.

Here's a few:
bb = brotherbart or browningbar
vc=Vermont casting
bk=blaze king
pe= pacific energy
quad= quadrafire
csd= cut split delivered
eta= edited to add
tmnt= teenage mutant ninja turtles

tmnt= teenage mutant ninja turtles

Lol that's a new one. Presumably something to do with the BK alien technology?

Other general ones:

FWIW - For what it's worth
AFAIK - As far as I know
IMHO - In my humble opinion

Niels - North Idaho Energy Logs. Sometimes "Neils". A good example of a recent coinage.

YRMV - your results may vary
