rk-2001u Controller warranty how long?

mine is 5 years 100% then pro rated after that.

I have a biomass but the warranty info is in the boiler manual on mine. I got a defective controller so I called and they said it covered by warranty and there sending me a new one at no cost. I do have to send the old one back. J.T.

The standard EKO warranty reads 100% for 1st 5 years, then 60% in 6th year, 50% in 7th, and so on as far as boiler body goes. It also says below that other components have 3 yr limited warranty but doesn't specify what they are.

I would call New Horizon and explain your situation. If for some reason it wouldn't be covered it sounds like your temperature selector may be the culprit. It is supposed to switch to the C185 or whatever temp setting it is and then go back to the boiler temp after a few seconds. You describe that it flips back and forth between these two values seems like it's value keeps changing on its own. I'm not sure if this dial is a simple potentiometer (variable resistor) or some time of position encoder. Could be an easy fix if the warranty route falls through.

I have been experiencing the same problem, and it has been getting worse. I suspected the problem is in the power supply, since the temp is derived from a voltage-resistance bridge. This morning I have been testing the controller at work, and I have found that one of the capacitors on the power supply side (16v 2200uF) is toast. I am sourcing a new one and will keep you posted on the result.

I replaced the capacitor and the problem is solved. Display is stable and relays don't jump around.
I put in a 25v 2200uF cap (all I had on hand, and for regulator caps I like to go a bit bigger anyway) an the controller is like new.
I hope you can use this info - a savings of $200 for a new controller for me!

Also, the controller temp reading is now 2-4*F higher because the voltage is stable and slightly higher. This isn't much of a difference, but may affect the operation of the controller long-term.
I will hook it back up to the temp sensor tonight and see how things look.
