Just a quick update on my Ashford.

This thing is amazing !............I love it......It lights up from cold start so easily........and from reload lightning fast.....So easily controllable. It really is like night and day difference from my Progress Hybrid Experience.
I have done a couple break in fires and the first long burn last night with five splits of ash and reloaded at 14 hours...could have gone a couple hours longer.......Crazy awesome.!......Set it and forget it.....heh.

Will update with more detail when I get it more broken in........Could not be happier.:)

P.S . Oh and thank god for front loading doors and north south loading.......haha.........didn't realize how much I missed that.

Yep, I personally won't even look at a stove I can't load n/s and doesn't have a usable front door.

What's the advantage of n/s loading and why is important to load from the front?

My stove location requires a front load, side load would be a pain, that's why I said it was a personal thing. I know side loaders work great for some people. Loading n/s you don't have to reach to the back of the stove to place the rear splits. I tried loading e/w maybe twice and gave up after having to reach into a stove over hot coals. I also feel I can pack the stove better when loading it n/s.

Thanks. I guess the almost square box of the Ashford is what allows you to load n/s (at least without cutting really short splits).

N/S rules in any stove. Tried E/W again this year in my lowly non-BK and got over it real fast.

I bought my stove without looking at it, the nearest dealer is 45 minutes away and didn't stock them, he would order one if you wanted one. With the internet and sites such as this one you see and read all you really need to know and with all the glowing reports from people that own them you know its a damn good stove..

I'm about an hour north of you in Canada. Not sure what the ash ford is worth here, but a new princess is around 3,000.

Isn't there a slight discount (at the moment) for Canadian money? Or are green backs running at a discount these days? Either way, things tend to be more expensive in the Great White North. But for Canadians, Bellingham wouldn't have its own Costco or Barnes & Noble (or really much of anything else).

A few Ashfords, brown enamel and black are ready to ship...so call your dealer!

Would it be possible for one of you Ashford owners to run a tape measure inside your firebox. I am wondering what the actual usable space is compared to my IR. (the Ashford has me sniffing at the BK lineup)

So far, I've gotten just one quote -- $2,595. That's $400 less than full retail.

For that kind of price if it had been around when we bought our stove (we paid around $1,900 for the Republic), I'd probably have one. Wonder what they are priced at over on the east coast. My bet is I'd never find a price like that here...

E-W 20 inches
N-S brick to brick 18
brick to glass 20
top of brick to glass 21
floor to top 12.5.

congrats on the new stove!

Sorry for my numskull understanding...but is the floor to top of 12.5 the firebox height? I really am just looking for L,W,H.
(and thanks for the measurements).

You are welcome.
Yes it is the height of the firebox.

There was earlier this year, but now $1.00 can is worth $0.95 us. Even still things are so much cheaper. This past weekend was in Bellingham shopping. Bought an oil filter and 3 gallons shell rotella 5w40. Shelf price here for the oil is 42.95, Walmart Bellingham, $23.97!

That is so weird. I still like e/w loading in the 30 better than n/s. I can't pack the stove well with n/s loads and I get longer burns going e/w. Also, I bang the tubes less going e/w.
