I know this is not the answer you're looking for but.... I bought my 450 from a local farm and fleet type store. They assembled it, filled it with bar oil and gas, took me out back to their shop, ran the saw and gave me some starting, running and service tips. I left there with a saw I had no questions about. I really like it. It does all I need it to do.
If the saws were serviced by Husqvarna and come with some sort of guarantee... then maybe...
What are the reconditioned saws going for? I picked mine up about a year ago for $349.99

Probably not a lot of help here either, but I'd skip that deal and look for a good condition older saw - you can find some very good condition saws - e.g. Husqvarna 55's for less and the parts are readily available and pretty cheap if you need them. Keep an eye on CL too - nice to be able to check the saw before buying. That 450 is probably fine - but $270 for a reconditioned 450 - I wouldn't put my money there. Cheers!
I bought the 435 a couple years ago and it has served me well. No issues after the carb was tuned by the local shop. I would agree that if you have time and the ability to fix up a used pro saw it would be well worth it.

Ditto. Look for an older 55 rancher, NOT a 455 rancher. You can put a new piston and head on them when they die and then it will run for another 20 years. I have done one myself, pretty easy if you take your time. I see them on Craigslist going for under 200.

same here. My 435 had ran like a champ.
I also tuned it myself since I had the tool. It might have richened up a hair.
I had the stihl dealer make me a couple yelo chains.
I got the 435 for $142.00... nice lite saw
