Burning Hedge - Lots of ash and coals??

Yes that is all I burn. It will burn 24/7 no problems. The coals will heat several hours let it go for a while with primary open
 
Hedge will make lots of coals...in fact, it's one of the best coaling woods. Enough coals I even have a grate which fits in the stove for grilling! As far as ash, I can't really say. It does seem to make a fair amount, though I don't know that it makes any more than other wood on a pound-per-pound basis...it's just that one log of hedge may be 20-30 pounds, but that is a couple armloads of pine or cottonwood.
