50 F here tonight.

We'll make up for it later on on, I am sure.

Taking advantage of -2 for a high tomorrow and a low of -18 not including wind. Waiting to see how high I can push the Fireview with 4 yr split/stacked red oak and iron wood.

Took advantage of mild temps today by setting up another area to stack wood on. Also split wood with my son for about an hour then finished stacking it. Mild sweater weather here today.

Cleaned the stove yesterday. The temps are dropping all night and tomorrow to around 18 tomorrow night. With the incredible wind and blowing rain, I hope I can dig out some dry wood.

Tomorrow I'll reseal my singlewall and get the stove ready to battle the next cold front. I'm liking the warm weather. I just wish it wouldn't be so rainy.

Yup, using the mild temps for maintenance....cleaned the stove, replaced the door gasket, swept the chimney and finally found out why the right heat shield on my Quadrafire 4300 would not stop rattling. After a test burn yesterday with the blower on high, it no longer rattles.

-9 here now with a -31 wind chill, time for indoor projects
WOW! Glad I don't have to deal with it being that cold. Our low this week is going to be around 17 degrees. The lowest we will see all year is around -6. Does your stove keep your house warm without any additional heat source when it is that cold?

It struggles when its this cold and the temp is coming up slow this morning but hope some insulated curtains help some, a lot of glass on south side of the house.

We would really thank you if you kept that cold air out there and leave us alone! But, it is coming right now. To be around zero tonight. Next week looks like it may be really cold all week. Maybe we'll get March weather in January?! It would be welcome. But this is taking shape to be a long cold winter.

I hope everyone who got hit is making out ok after the ice storm, hate those.

Now I am concerned, -20 below tonight with wind chills down to -38 below with winds turning to the south after midnight.
30 to 35 mph south winds tomorrow with wind chills about -20.
This is going to be a pisser.

I'll take the 30 F drop in temp tonight, thank you very much.

Stay warm, OS !!

My wood is so wet from the rain it's ticking me off. I'm having to leave the door cracked to get the surface moisture off.

-21 out right now. -40 windchill. Living room is 90 degrees rest of the house is 71 degrees. I am cheating though, have the pellet stove running on 4 out of 5 and the fireview loaded to the roof with massive secondaries rolling.

Fortunate to not have the backup furnace kick on once. Stay warm everyone!

Sounds like you need the "Spinal Tap" edition of pellet stove right now. You know... The one that goes to 11 ;lol

Keep warm guys! Me whining about the foot of snow and 4 days of rain melting it on my stack sounds silly in comparison.
