I have a hearthstone shelburne that is about a year old and the secondary tubes look like they are rooting out already/ Is this normal? Thanks

No, if they are rotting already that is not normal. They should be stainless and last many years IMO and experience

see the middle tube, just dont want to replace it any time soon. Looked it up today its about a hundred each to replace.

Looks fine. When I took apart my shelburne that's older than yours they were much dirtier but still very solid.

Yes - should last many years. FWIW SBI warranties the tubes (on the 2200 - maybe other stoves as well) for the life of the stove. If you have one crap out ( pics look ok though) check the warranty....
