Shut down once every two weeks on the weekend to clean.

24/7 Not much of a choice here.

24/6, 20 on the 7th day for cool down and cleaning.

24/7 except for once a week quick cleaning

To everyone (especially those in the bitterly cold north) How many hours does your pellet stove run on a average winter day. Does anyone run theirs 24/7 (shutting down only to clean). Please advise
Oh yes 24/7 except for cleaning. 5PM here and -2. Heating oil is $3.60/gal so enjoy not hearing the furnace run except for hot water.

24/7 except for cleaning... takes forever to heat the place back up if I let it get cold too cold in the house. Water pipe froze in the crawl space this morning so the water is also running 24/7 for now...

24/7 and clean as needed. Two stoves from ENGLANDER. Just love it. Stay warm and a super year to all

I turned mine off last summer. Last year summer was a Tuesday if memory serves.!!!

24/7 except for cleaning every 7-10 days. -2 outside right now, and loving this thing. The family can't stand it when I shut it down to clean. Btw tonight will be a thermguard night.

24/7 for the Cumberland

as needed for the Breckwell in the partially finished basement. Usually weekday evenings, more on weekends or 24/7 when below zero.

Need to experiment with a thermostat.

I can tell you my stove uses about 27 watts of electricity when running; 380 at startup. Mine runs probably 20hours a day on workdays and 24 on weekends (the stove steps the temp down while we are at work).

I calculated a while back that my stove uses something like 0.89 kW a day. At 15 cents a kW here its costing me 13.35 cents a day...or about 4 dollars a month.
Same stove as John as I recall (Quad MVAE) and same result. We essentially program the stat, pour in pellets, clean and enjoy. Whatever the stat calls for, 24/7, the stove delivers.

I do have an old Whitfield Quest that uses almost 4x as much electricity (several modern stoves also use that much) and with no stat or ignitor, more pellets/day. I turn it off at night as it's down in my office. But a high quality, modern stove is efficient and works well on a stat, 24/7.
