Thanks, 007. That top layer was from Eureka pellets. 99% sure they were some sort of pine/fir softwood mix. Quite a bit of fines likely due to the long ride from MT to NH but they burned soooo clean and produced a ridiculously small amount of extremely light ash. Smelled GREAT too. Think I paid $187/ ton from Walmart back in '04. I'd try Oakies but at $279/ton i'm too cheap, although my experience with the latest offerings from Maine's Choice and NEWP ($235 and $250/ton) have me emptying the ash pans after 11-18 bags. My fault for not trying a few bags first.
