Update, on the factory settings no difference with the glass turning black. If anything it is worse, after only 5.5 hours of burn time. I mean pitch black.3 lower buttons are set at 1/4/1. Any other setting causes the room air blower to cycle on and off every 9 minutes. 64 degrees in the house. Burning Pennwoods.

....."I am working on my second ton of pellets now."
....."the stove is only a few weeks old"

That's a lot of burning, in a short time - gotta clean 'em, by amount of fuel used, not time ;)

Have you taken a leaf blower, to the vent?

The access panel, next to the control panel, covers the room air blower. Pop it of, and check that the fins aren't clogged on the impeller. I have recently been informed, (thanks Mike), that there is a thermal cutout in the motor, that may shut the motor down, if it, or the duct work around it gets clogged.

Mary,

If needed I will take images of all the components showing this unit is in showroom condition. Every nock and cranny has been thoroughly cleaned two times in 6 weeks. And gets a daily cleaning. The exhuast is clear, I was in both panels yesterday and the exhaust and room air blower are clear. As I type this the room as I type this the room air blower just cycled off and on. This is way to much soot for a 5 hour period. Anyone please give me a hint. This is not my first rodeo with pellets stoves.

OK, in the 12 minutes I spent on this post the room blower has cycled on/off/on/off again.

Not to state the obvious, but you have an airflow issue. The flames look super lazy looking at the pic. Check your oak, make sure it isn't frozen over with ice or snow or something. Like Mary said, take 15 minutes and pull/check your combustion blower. If you don't have a spare gasket, you need to be very careful removing it, they tear EASILY.

When the door is open the flame gets lazy. When the door is closed like right now it is roaring. The OAK is directly out the back of the stove into my two car garage with the screen in place with no obstructions. Still trying to determine why the room air blower cycles on/off/on every few minutes. It is almost as if there is a thermostat installed. Which there is not. Beating my head against the wall. The only thing I have changed is the brand of pellets.. Lignetics to Pennwoods.

Do you have a bag of something else to try? Loved Pennwood's a few years ago when I burned them!

Out of curiosity, what did you pay for them?

I have a ton and half of Presto-log by Lignetics, a few bags of Wood Pellet Co. pellets and a few of Pennwoods. Pennwoods were 4.79 a bag $239 a ton. Even though the Presto-Logs created the black soot it never cycled the blower on and off repeatedly.

You could try bumping up your LBA from whatever you have it on now and put it to 9 and see if that helps but I think that is just bandaiding the flow issue somewhere...

This could also be a case of over feeding ...... too much fuel for the stove to burn so it becomes too rich and produces black soot. I'd check the fuel feed rate. Not sure if this stove has a restriction plate in the bottom of the hopper, but if it has, you need to adjust it so that less fuel is fed into the stove.

she's sucking air from somewhere, check the ash drawer seal also pull the ash pan out (when stove is off) and look closely at the underside of the cradle see if there is shiny black coating under there which could be the result of a bad seal behind the cradle. that much soot has simply got to be either an extensive blockage in the exhaust pathway or a pretty good leak in the door window ash pan cradle gasket or even the seal around the drop chute in the back, hey this is a possibility just dawned on me. pull the rear cover off and look up in back of the unit where the drop chute goes through the back of the firewall, its a smaller square tube inserted into a larger square tube, the gap between them is silicone shut to prevent air being pulled down through there. if the hopper slipped down after it got silicone during the assembly it may have disturbed the silicone before it set up which would cause this leak. if its bad enough it could be robbing you of the air you need to burn clean

Another update. Factory settings are still on 1/4/1. System completely cleaned out. Found out there was a silicone leak where the hopper connects to the auger. Got that fixed. Fires in under 5 minutes. Been running 30 minutes and NO ROOM AIR BLOWER. And no black soot on the glass as of yet. Whoa, there went the blower. Fingers crossed it stays on more than 6 minutes. I want to thank everyone for their insight. Mike, I feel you might have nailed the biggest problem on the head. Cocktail time :)

I take it you mean "NO ROOM AIR BLOWER" problem?

I don't suppose, you took a pic of this, before you fixed it, as I seem to be missing the silicone bead, around the top, at least the "outside" bead, is not visible.

Mary,

Here is an image of the leak. Mind you I had to contart myself to get the image but you can clearly see where the silicone is missing.

Thanks,

Rodney

Hmmm...ours is clear silicone, and looks like someone that put it on, that was either , A: working for a perfect bead, or, B: told not to waste "One drop"....We are gonna tape it, with aluminum tape tomorrow, "just in case"....as, record cold is predicted, tomorrow night. We'll glue it, at some other time.

Thanks

*edit, and thanks for the contort..."let heat warm your bones"
