Hello

Enviros are well built stoves and put out alot of good heat. Since I rebuilt my 1st EF-2 with a blown Hi Limit switch, it seems that controlling that heat is a bit of an issue sometimes. Granted with the Dial-A-Fire knobs the user could setup an overheat condition by turning the heat level up and the room blower down. The newer digital boards take control and eliminate this one issue. The safety snap discs also keep the stoves safe. The M55 and GC60 have also been know to pop the hi limit switch at higher heat levels.

Therefore the slide plate over the auger cover modification to limit the BTU output (I hear from approx 75k to 55k BTUs) seems to be the fix on these stoves. Se pic below

Of course my design question is why limit the heat, why not use a higher set point Hi Limit and let the stove belt out the heat? The stove is well made and should be able to take right?

However it still does happen using the default setting.

My question is, the default setting has the slide bolts in the exact center of the elongated holes.

What do you set your slide plate too? What do you set your auger trim to? Setting 3 is recommended by Enviro

Also can someone please post a pic of the reset on the hi limit sw, I hear it is hidden behind a SS cap plug?

Hi Don! I can't comment on your reset issue but I can suggest that you might lower your feed from 3 to 2 and even 1. If the outside temp is 32+ I go with fan speed 3 and feed 2. If warmer I go with feed 1. This past week with daytime temps below zero, I used fan 4 and feed 3 to get my downstairs temp up to 72-73 and then I knocked the feed down to 2 for most of the day. The M55 by design (me thinks) just drops too many pellets. I had a home made auger cover but have removed for this season. I am assuming that you have the new convection blower which alleviates most overheating issues......Bill

Hello

Thank-you! Enviro statees if the High Limit switch trips, you must remove that plug and press the reset button inside there! However it does not say in the instructions! LOL

Bingo! I took off that cap and hit the reset button with the screw driver and the stove is working fine!

How is your slide plate set over the auger cover in the hopper? Can you post a pic sometime? Thanks
