When we bought our house there was an old Harman P61 that works great except that the convection fan is always on. From the moment it is plugged in, the fan turns on. Everything else works great, otherwise. Any thoughts? It is getting to be annoying to have to unplug it once it shuts down. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hello

A bad mode control knob can cause that, I would upgrade to a new circuiit board. It has better heat algorythms anyways.

From looking around online it appears there are multiple part numbers that it could be. How do I go about ensuring that I get the right one? Also, what algorithms are improved in the newer boards?

The room temp mode is much better, the older boards seemed to make the stove be too hot/

The latest board is the multi-model circuit board with the Dip Switches that are set for the model and wether it has the new or old ESP probe.

Thanks, you have been a lot of help. Is the correct replacement part number 1-00-06142? I just want to be sure before I order something I can't return.

Looking it up by application, that would be the correct number. Where in NH are you roughly? Home and Hearth in Hampton Falls is VERY reasonable on their parts pricing. A board for my P61A was $260 online and $173 at H&H. You might want to check a Harman dealer if you have one near you. You may also want to consider upgrading to auto ignition. There are kits for that upgrade that include the new CB.

I live in Stratham so I am only minuted from Home and Hearth. I will check with them. Thanks!

Picked up a new control board from Home and Hearth for $170 and it works like a champ now. Thanks for the advice!

Don't throw away the old board, it could be just a bad pot. You can get 3 for about $10 on ebay. If you can run a soldering iron you can replace them yourself or take it to an electronics place and let them do it. Old Harman boards are known for this.

Since I gave you the advice to go to H&H and save yourself the money vs online....I will say you're welcome!
