Hi everyone! im a new member on this site, purchased a country flame crossfire flex for 50 dollars cause it had a bad auger motor. Replaced that and cleaned it up good. Ran the exhaust up the chimney, but still need to make a block off plate for the massonary fireplace, and my fresh air is ran down into my basement for now... until i can run a fresh air outside. Having troubles getting my stove to produce good heat, i have cleaned it out, made sure i had no build up on the heat exchangers, i have a good flame but still it doesnt kick out alot of heat.. any suggestions on what to look for? Thanks

Without the block off plate, you would have cold air infiltration and it may not be a legal install (local building codes). You may be creating a negative pressure situation in your house with the OAK run into the basement. If it is like most basements, there are other appliances that need air to function (dryer, furnace, etc). To replace air used in these appliances and the pellet stove, cold air will be pulled in through any available crack or crevice making the house feel cold and drafty. You are also throwing warmed air out the exhaust.
Pellet used can create a lot of variation in heat production.

What Lake Girl said is very true. The external intake has a huge impact on the amount of room-warming you'll get out of your insert. I thought I had my old farm house pretty "air-tight"....until I istalled my HR-01. Also, if you are going from burning wood to burning pellets, the quality/ intensity of heat you get with the pellets isn't going to be what you are used to.
