I will say this for the Envi-Blocks ... once the flames are gone, and only the red coals are glowing, they push heat for quite a bit longer then just wood.
I agree... The Envi's do keep the heat up. I now use 3 of the Envi 8's on startup. For cold start I place 2 Envi8's NS on top of 2 pieces of EW kindling. I put a fire starter inbetween the two with about 1/2" clearance. Then I put a 3rd Envi on top. I add in a few more large kindling pieces around my little envi bridge. Then I start it up with a bernz-O-matic. This works great and I lock down the door in 5 minutes. Everything is fully aflame within another 10-15 Minutes. Once these burn down to glowing I an good to go with dropping in cordwood all day.
Pretty much on a morning bed of hot coals just no firestarter needed. I may put a ball of newspaper with some tinders just to get the ball rolling.

After that I use Envi's when I feel I want to raise the stove temp.

The key with Envis is knowing how to place them for best performance. Close together they burn slower and spread out they burn faster.

Honestly I love the things. The hard part is just getting them here on Long Island.

They push heat longer than unseasoned firewood.

They def have their place if needed.

Phone goes right to vm. I'm not running out there to find its a prank
