We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.

My opinion is that it is a law. And has nothing to do with burning wood.

They're going to have some bumps in the road, but the state is already making a ton of money on the taxes and the cartels are loosing their cash stream, not to mention lightening the load on the courts and law enforcement. ...
I give them credit for trying it, I think it'll be interesting to see how it's going a year or two from now.
Just hope the Patriots don't get all whacked out before the game Sunday!

Maryland is now toying with the same idea. I don't know what to make of it, there are enough people running around here high on illegal stuff as it is.

I am taking the wait and see approach...I do not partake, and I work in an industry with strict testing so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

It may not be about wood, but hemp is quite close. A woody material. I wouldn't be surprised if hemp could be made into pellets with good results in terms of biomass per acre.....
Unfortunately, herb and I don't get along.
But in the context of "freedom", some of the most important points (IMHO) are freedom of the mind. That is, making herb illegal would be about the same as doing it to beer, and we know what kind of trouble that would cause from past history.

I've found that weed isn't really my thing, but I've been around it enough to say it's at least on par, and often less dangerous, than alcohol. I say people should have the freedom to do with their lives as they choose. Shouldn't the government have learned from Prohibition that controlling something like this just leads to MORE violence?!!
Well I can say I did my fair share when I was younger (25 years ago).And hell I think I was the only one that would go to the Friday night keg party's and drink Pepsi I don't see a big deal with Marijuana but to me it should stop there. Manufactured Synthetic drugs (pain killers) on the streets today is causing a lot of the crimes and overdose deaths and needs to be controlled. I don't think anyone is going to break into my house to steel my stuff to sell so they can go buy a non addictive joint.

That's a whole nother - but still related - thing. All of those drugs (heroin, cocaine, etc.) were legal pretty much from the beginning of time until this century. Many were made illegal due to lobbying of Big Pharma.
Many, if not most, of the problems with drugs stem from what the people have to do to get them once they are outlawed. Portugal and Mexico have both decrimed ALL drugs. In Portugal it's all about treatment if you have the disease of addiction....
Then again, what is addiction? We have so many wrongheaded ideas that it's hard to know where to start. Just to get started, this gal:

has done actual science and stats and says the ROW (rest of world) laughs at us and at AA as the "only and best" means of treatment. She has science on her side, but that's nothing compared to fantasy and anecdotes. We have a LONG way to go in mental health and related matters....
Filling our prisons with non violent pot heads is pretty ridiculous. At 21 you can go get hammered at your local watering hole, but by gawd you better not have a blunt in your pocket.

Thank you for your replies. I lean towards the prohibition didn't work with alcohol theory, with notes of more money for treatment. With stiffer penalties for DUI , work place hazard.
The "quality "of products available today is much "improved" I have heard over what was produced 25 years ago. It wasn't my thing then either, but the medical treatments documented warrant at least consideration.
Also hemp produced as a crop for the production of natural fiber for paper, cloth, pellets will not have the "desired" chemical levels of what is sold in storefronts be they recreational or pharmaceutical

frankly , IDFC , ive smoked it , far from just didn't care for it , actually had one of the single worst times of my life after smoking my last time, I remember laying in a driveway trying to soak the cold out of the gravel just wanting it to stop, only time in my entire life I really didn't care if I died.
that said you guys want it , knock yourself out, enjoy. just don't get stoned and go out and affect my life , I do my drinking at home so I don't affect any one else's life. enough crazies on the road drunk

Note DUI is all meds , OTC,RX, alcohol, synthetic ,recreational if it impairs abilities to make decisions, or impacts safety of others.

Reminds me of my last "experience". My gf wanted to give it a try again when I mentioned I knew someone who made cupcakes. Well, I got one of those and knowing the person who made it said, "maybe we should only take 1/3 of this, maybe even a quarter". She called me a pu$$y, split the cupcake in half and popped half in her mouth. At that point I had to do the same or face ridicule. It took 30 minutes to hit us, another 40 minutes of fun, and then 6 hours of pure hell! What set it off was a buddy started backing his boat down my driveway to store it in my shed for the winter. This is a real straight edge dude, and I got paranoid that he'd find us in our stoned state. We both hid in my bedroom for the next 6 hours, me scared to death that he'd pick the locks, creep though the house, and find us naked in the fetal position, and her just feeling bad in a real loopy way. I've never been so scared over something so stupid! Even after we fell asleep (at like 3 in the morning) and the "high" wore off, we weren't right for 48 more hours! Apparently we went shopping at Lowe's the next day and I spent a couple hundred bucks. We vaguely remember being in the store, but I got pretty surprised when I opened my trunk Monday and found bags and bags of merchandise, some of it I needed and had been too cheap in the past to get, some of it I have no idea what was going through my mind at the time because I'll never use it (like gold spray paint)!!
My buddy has since cut down on the "dosage" after being told by regular acid and shroom users that his cupcakes gave them trips on that level!

I have no idea what it was, was like 30 years ago. haven't wanted to look at it since. silly thing is I wasn't drinking either , ive had folks tell me it was because I must have been drunk as well. nope. I know it <explitive'd> me up way worse than the worst drinking night I ever had. was a miserable feeling.
FWIW as I said before , if anyone wants to do it, knock yourself out. I really don't care as long as it doesn't interfere with me or my family.

as far as I can tell that line doesn't yet exist. eventually it will. problem is what happens In the mean time. hopefully people will get stoned at home.
