Question on ash uses

I used to let the ash in my pdvc pile up on the sides of the burn pot then once in a while vacuum it out. I found i was vacuuming way too often. This year i got a big metal ash bucket (not a spark bucket hahah). i've been scooping the burn pot and instead of throwing it in the side of the stove till its vacuum, i just dump it in the bucket. has worked great.

My question. now i have a nearly full 5 gal pail of ashes. Is there any use for this? i read someone dumps it on the snow for traction. wife would kill me. How about the garden? We grow a great veggie garden each year. If i work the ashes into the soil is it safe? or is there something in the ashes that would make this a dumb thing to do?
 
I spread mine on the lawn, greens it up great!
 
Careful dumping in the garden in large amounts. I use it on driveway or just chuck in the hedrow.
 
I think the best way to get rid of it is put it in a ash can. When can gets full , dump can in garbage bag and throw it out.
Yes of coarse when you know for sure there are no hot embers that can catch any thing on fire.

Why turn good fertilizer (potash) into land fill?
 
I've thought of putting it on the lawn. It actually makes a noticable difference?

Yes lawns love it. Better than paying for lime.

If you have any lilac trees at least some of your ash can go there.
 
not bad ideas. my lawn does need some help. I pretty much have only mowed it for years, nothing more. The lawn care products cost too much compared to the prestige of having the greenest lawn. I have a very nice dandelion farm every spring.
