What a find I crave lovely Beech, Hard to get here but a beauty to burn.

You did great! Thx for the pix

At our new digs there's a wicked huge beech tree that's just too big and too dang close to the house for comfort. The branches spread out over half the roof and some droop down low enough for the squirrels to jump onto the railing of the wrap around decking. It's too big and too close for me to fell - but at least I'll have plenty of good firewood to compensate for shelling out the $$$$ to pay the tree service to cut it down for me.

Nice pics Wilhelm. Beech is great firewood. I have half cord seasoning. 2 years out.

Love the beech.

I really love processing beech. Thin bark, splits easy. However in this particular patch of woods a lot of the huge beech trees have top damage, broken tops or snapped 3/4 up the trunk. Only the beeches. Just an interesting observation today.

Beech is about my favorite tree in the forest. I love the smooth gray bark and copper leaves.

I find the green wood is really difficult to split by hand. It's very dense and doesn't seem to split as much as break apart. Even if you can get the wedge started it'll throw it back at you with no warning.

Once you've got it split, how long does it take to dry down to 20%?
