Permits

Permit wasn't required here. Called my town building code enforcement officer to check before doing my install.

Not sure, but had mine permitted and done by code anyhow......homeowners insurance didn't require it either

In mass myself, just passed inspection, I can't imagine there is any town in mass that doesn't require it, I was worried about passing but that was me over thinking it, only reason I would think you wouldn't pull is if you where cutting corners on install, an unpermitted stove would void your insurance I bet if they discovered it was done without one, I could be wrong but I wouldn't test the theory

Homeowners insurance required a permit and inspection from the local building inspector. This turned out to be kind of a joke because I knew a lot more about stove installation than the inspector. Maybe your inspector will be more knowledgable than mine.

I am in the process of filling out the paperwork for permits since my locality requires it. The permit was just basic information and all they asked for was a copy of the specifications and clearances listed in the owner's manual of the stove you are installing. From my understanding you just have to meet the clearance and floor protection requirements listed in the manual of the stove your installing.

permit required here but i didnt feel like jumping through all the bureaucratic hoops to get one. I may get one someday but i chafe at the government being all up in my business and making me give them money to improve MY home. My insurance doesnt require a building permit to be pulled apparently, but he did come out and take pictures of my install for their underwriters to give it the ok to insure. Even got a safe heat discount. Funny thing is he never went on the roof or even looked at the chimney.

I have to pull a permit for just about everything from windows to wood stoves.
