110 bags are gone in 2 Stoves in a 1220 sq ft house loc, northern NB / northern Maine Border and we like it around 70F

A little more than 2 tons so far but it`s pretty much immaterial. If and when I need more I`ll get em. Whatever amount of pellets it takes to heat this house has to save me a lot of what the oil would otherwise cost.
I used to think it wasn`t much of a difference but it`s looking like it`s close to 50% savings .

Just over 5 ton between the PB105 and the Castile.

Has been a very cold winter here.

Agreed. The more you burn the more you save, and I thought exactly like you until recently. If 120 gallons of oil is equal to a ton of pellets, then oil at $3.40 a gallon, in the Fall, would be like buying a ton of pellets for $408. I was buying super premium softwood pellets for $275 a ton, LG; which means saving $133 a ton, not bad, but not going to reach break-even for around 6 years! I recently started buying FSUs for $209 a ton, and that's far, far better, almost 50%, like you said. But now, oil is up to $3.80 in my neck of the woods, which makes it equal to $456 a ton. Buying pellets at $209 is a real bargain! Now, I'm looking at break-even in 3 years.

Gonna start ton # 4 tomorrow.

1.5 tons down. I may hit 3 tons this year. Has been very cold so far. But my house is warm.

It's -6 now at 10 pm and is forecast to go as low as -9 tonight and -11 tomorrow night. My PB105 will likely burn between 4 and 5 bags in 24 hours on cold days like we are having. I put the last 5 bags of ton 5 in the hopper this afternoon.

Bag #66 tonight and my one ton cleaning was last weekend.

Down to - 34 already tonight, took stove off stat and I am running on stage 2 of 5, more consistent heat. Lake Girl, hope you are staying warm, heard Winterpeg was living up to its namesake.

On my third ton now, about 10ish bags in. Been keeping the house warmer this year than last so the wife can have her warm bedroom.

not going to reach break-even for around 6 years!

By my figuring, we broke even by the second year. We burned about 900 gallons a year for heat (still burn about 325 for hot water and the occasional blast of heat when temps really dive).

When we put the stove in, oil was averaging $4/gallon, so that was $3,600. The entire stove purchase, vent parts, install, and pellets we burned the first year was about $4,500. Harman had a promotion at the time providing a free ton of pellets + we got the $300 tax credit + a smaller state tax credit.

I burn about 4 tons a year at $209/ton + $65 HD delivery fee for the whole lot. So my total pellet heat cost is now $901. A true no brainer!
