Hi all,
New to this forum and just wanted to say thanks for all the help if gotten from trolling around. lol I have a Countryside Magnum in my finished basement. We are looking for a nice stove for upsatirs living/dining room area. We have an open floor plan and about a 1,000 sqft to heat. My wife and I are really leaning toward the Cumberland MF3800. We have a log cabin and she really likes the look of it. Anyone that knows anything about these stoves or any tips with venting or running I would really appreciate your input.
Thanks

Run very fast. My brother has 1 and hates it. They have no service network and they sold a bunch through Ocean State Job Lots. Nuff said

I don't know anything about Ocean State Job Lots, what is that? This one is from my local dealer that I have dealt with for a long time and trust.

Don't know anything about that stove BUT having a local TRUSTED dealer goes a long way. I would check out some of the other stoves available in your area just for comparison. These are not small purchases and the more informed you are, the better.

Thanks for your reply. We looked at a couple of others Lopi's and St.Croix. The St. Croix was at another dealer which I don't care for. My wife fell for the Cumberland and my dealer is awesome we have used them for years for plumbing and heating issues. So I feel really comfortable buying from them, they have some other stoves and I know Lopi's are a good brand she likes the easy clean and startup pn this stove as I am gone alot, while I like that too I want to make sure that the stove works well and does what we want with minimal breakdowns. lol

There is a couple of members with them. Liking the multifuel ability to eat ashier pellets. If one of our stoves were to go south I may consider one as I see the locally used ones are reasonably priced. Use the search function and you may find wht info your looking for.

Over a hundred miles for us. Bought used and with the help here have had a great experience with Harman. Simple enough to work on and some cheaper non Harman parts available. Most parts can be changed out for less than a home visit by a dealer.

Have you looked at Harmans?
I agree if you can look Into a Harman.I had a used enviro 3 that had nothing but problems from day one.also when it was running never gave decent heat.Been doing research for a year and knock on wood my p35i Harman is a god send.Me and the wife love the contemporary look didn't get the silver and this stove is amazing.Good luck on what ever you get all I can say I am extremely impressed with the harman.

I have the cumberland mf3800 and love it. This thread was the first time I actually heard anyone try to steer someone away from it. Any pellets I burn seem to do great, and last year I burned cherry pits too. I love the looks of it and it's saved me a TON of money that I would've spent on oil. Great stove, highly recommend.

I am truly surprised anyone would buy a stove with no repair network.. I guess if you are a tech it's ok but makes no sense to me. Just my opinion.

Ok a few things from an actual Cumberland 3800MF owner, not my brother, not my cousin..yes there are a few of us here!!!!!. I bought mine from OSJ...but i researched a lot of stoves. I bought it for 1400.00, figured wth, if I don't like it i can sell it for the same price right? Mine has burned the worst and the best pellets, sure I get more ash with the worst (NEWP) heat somewhat less. Burned corn, no issues, lots of heat. easy to operate, easy to clean, I clean it once a week, and dump the burn pot on every pellet load. So far 2 years into this pellet world, no problems. It has paid for itself already for the lack of oil I buy! So at this point I am making money..I installed it myself, I can work on it myself if that time comes, dealer support where I live is pretty far away, but if you call them direct, which I have, only for questions in regards to operation, they are very nice. They have a great warranty and seem willing to stand behind it. There are a lot of heat exchange tubes in the box which I believe contribute to getting the heat out and a huge ash drawer which I dump about every two weeks, I have used 2 ton of pellets already this year, with that so called polar vortex, 2 bags a day, typically it is one bag or less a day . just as an FYI, I have 1700 foot, ranch...no additional heat necessary, bedrooms do remain a little cooler, but I appreciate that. you will find a whole bunch of opinions here, we seem to be bias towards the stove we have because we all feel we did our due diligence on whats best for us....I have ZERO regrets with this stove. Yo, 1520.00 installed how could I go wrong? But in the end, the choice (there are a lot of them) is all yours. Do your research, go look at the ones on your short list, make up your mind and start saving money on heating your home.

Congrats and welcome to the club! I can attest that this stove is easy to maintain, so your wife should have no problems! And I too love how it looks, makes me not mind doing my share of the cleaning (most of the time anyway) :)
