Is that in the stove room?
I just came back from the apartment complex that I work at,I had to thaw out some heat pipes. Froze during the off cycle. Dang..had one early in the day also during work hours.

That's excellent! Nice feeling being warm and self reliant.
Last night during the storm it was somewhere around 10 F and was able to keep the furnace off. In fact I was able to easily raise the house temp with a half load.
My only prob is not having enough dry wood so I have to ration. Run the stove for comfort when I'm home and very few overnights. Can't wait till I can load at will. Till then I use the furnace and try not to let it bother me.

Oil burner has been not working for 3 years.

I actually don't care much if the furnace comes on but I checked my yearly usage at the end of December and I used 575g. That's down from 900-1000. If I kept the house at the temp the stove does it wood be 1200g so I feel good about it.
This house would use 250 - 300 gallons in this kind of weather.
I added an electric HWH, raised my LIPA/PSEG bill $40 a month.
I'm way ahead.

Nice! My stove room is 79 and im just on a reload, midlevel LR is 66 where my thermostat is. Was 68 earlier, i dont think the wife tended to it much today cause im usually around 70 in the LR.

What do you do for the animals in this weather?Yeppers ... but doing it
Working on the coal bed for tonight ... emptied the ash can today in the drive way.
Gonna get brutal here for the next few days, for us.

I dont like working outside in this no more! I need to empty my ash, its taking up too much space in my stove now 
Murph & my cat house guest are inside.
Depends on the conditions for the heese. Dix comes into a stall when weather is nasty, other wise she's outside with a blanket if need be. Matisse is a cold weather machine. She puts her butt (which is ample) to the wind, and rides it out. Very fuzzy, and alot of under coat.
You can tell how bad the winter is going to be, by their coats. Dix was fine until November ... then she fluffled up like crazy.
They are pretty durable, the horses.

Let it burn down, then cycle it.

-2 here before the WC. I had the Rangeley to 625 before I went to bed at 9. Well.... I'm reloading her now. These temps suck the heat right out of the house. My chickens are happy though... have had a little portable oil radiator in their coop for a few days now (and they got it on the last snap)
The chickens must be warm, for certain !
I'll add that I came home @ 5 today, to a 62F degree house, and both stoves done. Almost 2 hours later, and I've just hit 68F. And the temps are dropping.
I think I'll run the space heater (oil filled radiator) tonight at 55 - 60 F, just to be on the safe side.

Ya this cold sucks! I couldnt imagine the further north peeps 
I let mine burn out today so i could empty some ash, turned it all over and the bottom was a full bed of coals! O well had to pull a lot out.
Im back up to 68* after a 500* burn which i lit at 4. Stove room is 80+ though!
Natty gas bill came today, 79 bucks not too bad!

Yep. 14 here too and 73 inside also. Getting ready to load up the 30 for the night run.
Latest here is - 10F, plus wind chill.
I cranked the space heater to 65F.

I miss my 24ac, its quite comfy in here with the pellet dawg getting it done , but logs are so much more fun
