The most obvious answer is becuase it is not a certified stove and not legal for installation in many (most?) places.
Which is the case for me. Love the look of the stove, though.

Go with the Englander 30, and enjoy that heat. My FIL had a fisher, either mama or papa, and it was tough to control with smoldering not very dry pine. Suffer thru the first season with whatever dry wood you can find to mix with what you have, and get dry wood found for next year. Then you will enjoy a stove with good value, and will be able to control it better with the dry wood, and not use near as much as you have in the past.

Then start saving some of that money you would have spent on electric/gas to heat the house with, and get that dream stove, and you will be able to sell that englander and recoup a surprising amount of your money if you have taken care of it.

Nc30 is 3/4 into my fireplace currently. Soon to be installed elbow well get me 4 more inches into living room. Initially it didn't heat but once u learn how to operate every burn gets better and better! My temps and control is currently beating my old insert! It will only going to get better with my elbow and new block plate! Look through my pictures. It's a mess now but cleaned up it looks very nice sitting on my hearth! My woman even prefers it's looks over the fancier looking insert

Big fish is an insert and I'm not so sure it throws more heat than the 30. My buddy has a 30 we stand by it and drink a bit too often and I have a pretty good handle on what it's capable of. I feel like I need some intense heat. Just can't see a 500 deg stove doing what a 700 deg stove will do. Alderlea t6 is the most likely at this point I am gonna try to look at one this weekend.
Sorry to chime in with no 'opinion' for you, but I am considering a 30 for my cabin which happens to be in Dial. So, many of these guys are posting about weather conditions that dwarf my (our) temps.....except this year. I have an 800 sq ft cabin, poor (no) insulation, single windows, etc. my main concern is a burn thru the night. If you have been looking hard at the 30, do you think it is too much stove for my situation? Or can I run an extra row of brick around the inside to make box smaller and get a good 8 hour burn? Limited controls, right?

Thanks. Mike t

Fisher fireplace insert. Englander at Home Depot Was in stock less than 50 miles Blue ridge or Ellijay both had one. Today in lieu of buying a new stove I decided to add pipe. I already had pipe connected to the stove stufft fiberglass around where the first pipe went into the existing flue and that was it. I added pipe all the way to the top total of 20 ft. Stufft fiberglass in around the top instead of bottom because I found that at the bottom it was melting and coming out. Hard glass chunks found instead of fluffy glass. It's 35f outside mad I already think that it's much better now just because I have stopped the leaks of air from inside going up the chimney around the pipe. Draft is noticeably improved and I'm running no fans in hallway or ceiling fan and farthest bedrooms are 68f. I hope this isn't just a fluke. But I really think it may be that I'm not sucking all the heat out of the house via a poor install. If this is the case when I upgrade I may not need as large of a stove as I originally thought. But I kinda feel dumb because I've been studying stoves and chimneys etc on this site for years and if this was the major problem all this time. Well I'll be tickled pink as will the bride. We will see and I'll keep you posted.

Ok, I figure I better update my post since I just reread yours. Dial is a city near Ellijay and Blue Ridge.....I noticed you are 50 miles away over near Rome or something.....and certainly never heard of Dial. Sorry. Anyway...still have same question about the 30 bring 'too much' stove....thanks

How about put a little less wood in instead of more bricks?

Free shipping to store only with Home Depot.
I just checked it out, and they did change it. Wonder if it is a permanent change or just during the winter months? Either way, I am really glad I god the free shipping to my home.

I did not get free shipping on mine from hd. I had to pay the same to ship to my home or hd so i paid the 99$ to have it set on my shop floor.

I bought mine in like September.

I ordered mine in August of 2012. $899 + 53.94 in tax. No shipping charge. I wonder when they changed it?
