was thinking of insulating around my insert (hampton hi300) with roxul. Looking at HD website but not sure which roxul is best for the application?

Stone wool roxul has temp rating of 2100 deg f. I saw a demo at home depot. They just left a flame on it hour after hour.

roxul comfortbatt should be fine.

the roxul safe and sound says on the package that it shouldn't be used as thermal insulation.
