Hello all,

In the past I have got great advice regarding my 25-PAH stove. Well, it is still sooting up within 24 hours now. Glass turns BLACK as does the entire surface of the inside of the stove. I tried calling Englander, no joy there. Busy signal since Monday.

I am using Pennwoods and the stove gets plenty hot keeping a temp of 69 degrees in the house. And that reading is down the hallway. Ranch home.

I have tried running at a variety of settings and still get this very fine black ash. It comes off quick enough, but is getting to the point I have to clean it every 40 hours or so. Thorough cleaning Monday morning. By thorough I mean every nook and cranny. Flue pipe out the roof. The two plates inside the burn box including cleaning up inside those ports. It takes me a solid hour plus to give this thing a thorough cleaning. The preset buttons are 2/4/1 . It is not as if the stove is not getting hot enough, it's just all this black ash/soot is annoying. I am attaching an image of the inside of the firebox to show where I brushed off the inside around the pellet drop tube to show the difference.

Any help is always appreciated.

Englandrr lost power Monday, I believe, so the CS guy, mike, said he'd try to help people in this forum like you!

Have you tried different pellets?

I have tried, Lignetics, Presto-Log, Hammers, Pennwood and Wood Pellet Co. all producing the same results. I started cleaning every part of the stove at 10:15 AM got done just before noon. Fired stove, 6 minute ignition another 14 to get to temp and the room blower kick in. The biggest concern I have is what should the bottom three factory buttons be set at?

Have you some aluminum tape?

If so, try sealing the joint, around the door, on the hinge side, and across the top, with it, and see what happens.

door seems to be sealing well, picture shows a good "patch" where the gasket is meeting
* Was just a thought, as the "dollar bill test", is nearly impossible, close to the hinges, and the seam for the gasket ends on that side, "and" the force from the door handle, would put a torque, on the door, towards that side.

clean the holes on both sides of the burn chamber. open the door and reach back and up on both sides in the slotted side areas. you should feel holes the size of a nickel. I usually run a baby bottle brush up and down the slotted sides to clear the holes. fixes my pah when it starts to soot. If that doesn't fix it, check the seals on the door and the ash pan. good luck. love my pah.

Did you suck out the pipe under the burn pot where the air comes in? About the size of a small shop vac hose.

UPDATE: been running the stove for weeks now and used the new settings and it seems to be working rather well. My bigger issue is I am running very low on pellet fuel. Anybody in the NJ area that has a few extras til next Mon or Tues that would be awesome.
