Elaine . . .

I suspect the answer to your question is "yes . . . you can burn all day long with a pellet stove", but you might get a better response with this question posted in the Pellet Forum section. Perhaps a kind-hearted Moderator will move this there for you.

What model of Quad? Most will run 12hrs without any attention. Some will need a pot cleaning if pellets are dirty and ashy. Hopefully 24 hrs. Those with automated ash removal systems weeks. Welcome to the easier way to burn wood.

Of course you can.

I'm new to having a pellet stove - have a Quadrafire. Is it okay to burn it all day long with this cold weather?
I never shut mine down this time of year just to clean it :) welcome aboard to the forum !

Same here I go a week easy only shut down to clean . What model ? What are you burning ?

Mine shuts off a few times a day to perform an auto clean, but it is essentially on 24/7 when it's this cold. I shut mine down completely once a week for a cleaning but can certainly go much longer.

Thank you. I have another question if you don't mind - my is also on a programable thermostat - On the thermostat it keeps blinking to change the filter - where is the filter?

Only a couple of stoves out there that have air filters. I think you have a regular furnace stat that has been adapted to run your stove. Go into the stat and reset it. Stay warm:)

I dont have a Quadrafire but I would think this is part of the thermostat it self and you may need to turn it off.
Of course..I'm not familiar with your thermostat..But I would assume there's no filter in the Quad that needs changing...
Its cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. (I could be wrong on this.. Maybe a Quad owner will speak up).

What brand thermostat is it?

As bioburner suggested it sounds like you are using an aftermarket tstat. I'm not aware of any quads with air filters.

It's the stat . Stove has no filter

Youll have to experiment. Some pellets more often then others. I could go what seemed like forever with some pellets. It also depends if your actually using your thermostat and shutting down when it shuts down a lot of crud will gets ejected that may not have when running continually.

I have Quads and thermostats... ignore the filter warning...its built into the thermostat and doesn't know what kind of appliance is creating your heat. If the pot could stay clean of ash, I would be able to burn to infinity. I just shut it down to give the pot a quick vac (Powersmith Ash Vac) and reload the hopper. Enjoy your stove as we all do, here!

No, you can burn it all day and all night.
Just clean out the ash when it is looking too full.
It is safer than your clothes dryer.

NO! it will get HOT if you do!!! Welcome Elaine....Actually, let her rip...burn it 24/7 only stopping to clean. every second it runs you are saving $$$....

Off? In this cold. No way. Mine says "Feed Me". Just keep filling up the hopper until a issue occurs. She has been off 1 time since Christmas for a cleaning.

Mine has been running continous for more than 3 weeks without a cleaning or shut down. Just drop the ash from the burnpot on the fly (Lancaster)!! 1-2 bags/ day with the sub 0 temps!!
