As I mentioned in my 'Ask and ye shall receive' post - I received permission to gather some downed wood from a neighbors property (from town road work). Three trips today - should have brought a saw - didn't think it was that big/heavy, but it was! Loaded all this into the truck - some of the wood was decent sized and heavy - my 40 year old back is a little angry at me. Not a ton of wood, but it all adds up. I'm guessing about a 1/3 cord - but hard to say till stacked. A pic of the pile is included - and since it was such a nice day and the other stacks looked so nice, I figured I'd take some pics of them too. Some have said that they think pallet stacks are not nice to look at, but I like mine. Cheers!

Dang nice pile of wood. How much you have?

Thanks. I thought I was at about 26 cord - but I was overestimating. I counted the pallets today - I think I have a total of 45 pallets stacked - and I estimate about 1/2 cord per pallet - so somewhere around 21 cord to be conservative. I burn 5 cord/year - so I'm always shooting to replace whatever I burn per year to stay 4 years ahead. Cheers!

I am right at 4 years ahead myself. I stack mine in racks with metal roof -16' longx5' tallx4' wide and have 4 of them and 1 -20' long and a 8' all full and about 4-5 cord needs to be split and another 4+ cord split ready for another rack this year. So we have about the same amount and want more. Going to cut some ash up town, got to get it before they set pile on fire. Later

You have a pic of the racks with the metal roofs? Are they like small sheds?

Here you go, this one is 16 foot long 4 foot wide and from ground to top is 6 foot tall inside is 5 foot 6 inches. It is all treated

That's nice - for a second, looked like a stack coming out of the back of the rack! Cheers!

That first picture says it all. :);)

It looks real nice, but boy thats a lot of work with all those cross stacks.
It sure does look like you've got them down to a science.

Nice work.

BTW I got my truck back....after I paid $5400!!!

Hope so. And I said something a little different than dang.

Thanks. Not too bad doing cribbing the corners - once you've done a few, you just start to know what's going to work + I like how the stacks look this way and I have to stare at them for so long, might as well enjoy it! Ouch on the truck! Cheers!

NH_Wood, that is great!

Yikes! Size IS everything!;lol

Those logs in the first pic would be heavy for any one back of ANY age to move.

"Lift with your knees." ;)

Yeah - that long one wasn't fun to lug to the truck and there are some 4' sections that were nasty too - luckily, my back forgave me - feeling fine today! Wife tells me time to slow down on this stuff - I know she's right, but I'm come from a line of stubborn Canucks. Cheers!

Hey um.., Dr. Phil... Are you looking for a OCD hoarding type for a future show? Cuz I know a web site where you could find some I'm almost certain! Lol!
Nice stash and don't change anything no matter how many strange looks ya get!.. :0
