ok so i am starting to mess with the defualt settings on the stove for feed rate and blower speed.
default my setting feed setting
1800 Speed Smoke P1 1700 1.5"
1900 Speed Smoke P2 1850 1.8"
2000 Speed Smoke P3 2000 2.1"
2100 Speed Smoke P4 2150 2.5"
2200 Speed Smoke P5 2300 3.0"
on setting 1 thru 3 its fine flame about half way up in the window
on setting 4 and 5 the flame fills the window and is up against the removable baffle.

my question is do i need more/less blower speed at the higher setting?

How's the color and activity of the flame? I have a similar style Italian made stove, and Settings P4 and P5 regularly go up to the top baffle, a river of flame.

the flame is yellow/orange and looks very nice. its usually a straighish shaft of flame not lazy at all.

Your Ecoteck stove flame height seems normal to me. Why do you think the flame should not go all the way to the top???

no reason just wasnt sure. i figure the baffle plate was there for a reason like that anyway.

Exactly, a straightish river of flame. Though, I call it yellowish-white. Interesting how similar your combustion air numbers are to my Piazzetta. I don't know what units they use, RPM? They certainly aren't CFM. I wonder if the combustion fan parts are the same. May be useful down the road.

only issue i really have is on power 3 the glass is fine but on 4 or 5 the glass gets hazy in a few hours and total obstructed in a day or 2.

Dunno about Ecos, but Piazzettas always get foggy after a few hrs. BTW, how did you come to your air settings to begin with? Did you use a manometer?

i just figure if the start blower speed was 2300 why not the max speed, it wasnt too far off from the default anyway. and i just made an even spread for the speeds, 150 each step. seems to work fine

every now and again i see a trace of black soot from the tips of the flame running at 4. its not often but i see it once and a while. is that normal

If it's been running for a whole day, and if I'm due for my ton cleaning, then yes, I see wisps of black from the tips. It's only happened a couple times, but obviously I don't stare at it all the time.

Yes the Ecoteck blower speed programmed parameters are in RPM. Also the actual motor RPM is displayed at the top of the "State Stove" screen. I bet they both use the same EBM Pabst combustion motor/fan part number. I am pretty sure the Rika Austroflamm stoves use the same motor too.

Interesting. Looking at my programming manual on the back page they list all the electronic motors and components. There is a description for the combustion fan:

R2E150-AN89-11 6PALE v115

Just ran a search, and it looks like you're right, it's some model of Papst fan, around $200.

Thanks, I think it's immensely useful to know that many of these European-made stoves use similar parts. Not that I need any parts right now, but it never hurts to be prepared for problems by following threads for Ecotecks and Astroflamms and probably Palazettis as well.

that looks a lot like my exhaust blower too

Pelleting in NJ has an Ecoteck Elena Steel. I'm thinking all the Ecotecks may use the same combustion blower.

Where did you find the smoke fan for $200 ?

Regards

Yeah, I've found more air helps:

Feed rate/ air setting
3.3secs/2000rpm
4.5secs/2100
5.7secs/2300
6.9secs/2500
8.1secs/2650
