Do you leave door open stove door open or closed, while leaf blower is sucking?

I leave it open until I get into the house and then slowly close it....then open and close it a few times to suck everything out. Don't forget to disconnect your vacuum hose before hand so you dont blow out the diaphragm. I don't disconnect the hose and I have never had a problem but I do keep a spare on hand.

I leave it open to get the maximum amount of air moving thru the vent pipe and be able to pick up more fly ash. Also leaving the door open will not stress the pressure switch and spin the combustion fan.

New pellet stove guy here,

what is this leaf blower trick you guys speak of? Sounds like it is to clean the exhaust blower? Is there a way to use a hose from an air compressor or does the blower need to be in the suck mode?

You use the suction connection on the leaf bower and hook it to the vent pipe where it exits your house. Helps to run a vent pipe brush thru first to loosen up the fly ash in it. This is someone else's video.

I start mine with the door closed, then i come in and open the door and leave the leave blower on for the entire cleaning. In a really good cleaning, i'll have the leaf blower on and be using the air compressor inside the stove plus a vacuum. the air compressor really cleans out the burn pot of my pdvc so well that its just as good as removing it plus i save a gasket. It also cleans out that area inside the heat exchanger behind the plate. the leaf blower sucks all the crud out that the air compressor lifts up.
