PE TN19 returns

Thanks. That's been bothering me.

Looks like one of the few stoves of that size that will load N/S. A little small for my heating needs and the wife would definitely not go for the looks, but someone looking for a stove that size would be silly to not consider it.

After months and months of searching, I'm still focused on either a T5 or a Super.

I notice that the page directs you to a TN19/Super comparison. Kind of makes me think that it's not profitable for them to sell this stove, especially with it's different secondary design.

What kind of baffle does it use above the tubes?

Lol that comparison site is obviously trying to sell you on a super 27 - I wonder what that says about me that it worked for me without the marketing! The tn19 is pretty ugly IMHO which is why I didn't go for it - couldn't tell until I saw it at my local shop though. And I would think the burn times aren't all that different even though the tn19 is listed at 6 hrs and the super at 8.

What was the story? Did they give up on it after one season? Seemed like it was a good economical stove.

I think it is because they do not produce the 19 anymore and are directing people to the stove that it most closely compares to as the 27 is their lowest priced stove. The 19 was even cheaper. I think it was $1,000-$1,100, originally.

THAT and the fact that I personally thought that unit "might" have been discontinued because I could never find much info on it.

They wouldn't have just put up a webpage for a discontinued model. It was a (IMO lame) marketing dept. move when they updated their website for this heating season. Perhaps the thought was they didn't want the TrueNorth line taking sales away from the Super series? I had several correspondences with them pointing out the need to maintain web info for the manual, clearances, capacity, warranty, etc.. They definitely are still making the TN19. I have that directly from PE. The TN19 sells for $799 at our local True Value.

Wait, so the stove is still being produced and they weren't even putting it on the site? And when they finally do put it on the site they blatantly try to push you to the more expensive model? That's even lamer.

Good to hear that the TN19 is still being produced. I thought it was a good size steel stove that could compete with the economic steel stove manufacturers.

As I read their site info on the TN19, it just seems to me that PE DOESN'T want to motivate sales for the TN19.

I actually come away with the feeling that the TN is made by another company that is PE's competition.... Just check out the "comparison page. It is as if they are trying hard to UPGRADE customer's to the Super 27.

Obviously the 27 is a better class, but if you aren't trying to sell your "Economy line" with vigor and enthusiasm as a GREAT BARGAIN or alternative, then why bother at all.

PE should list the TN19 for what it is and be proud and eager to get it to people who are wanting exactly what it is. Instead they are using it (tn19) as a sub par unit to compared and boast sales for a higher profit item I suppose.

Good thing I already know that the TN19 is made by PE, because after seeing this web page, I surely would think it was made by a competitive company .

Why doesn't PE make some of their stoves rear vent, wouldn't that open up a market for them?

The comparison of the tn19 and the super 27 is the exact same one I made before going into the local dealer and the same comparison made in the dealer's showroom.
Kinda like going into the Ford dealer and drooling over the Mustang but going home with a Focus.

I think that it is canibalizing their sales on the more expensive models. Way thiner profit margins on the tn19. I 'settled' for the tn19 because of the price point. at this point in life i'm not too concerned with aesthetics and this thing is great. Perfect burner for up here and my small space.

i really like the no-frill utilitarian simple line of the tn19.

i have about 1800 sq ft single leveled open floor plan ranch style house with 10 ft ceiling. between the tn19 and the avalon spokane 1750, which one would be a better choice?

They are a pretty close contest. Either would be a good stove. But I wonder if you should be considering a larger stove in your climate zone unless the house is very tightly sealed and insulated?

the house was built in 1963 and i would say the house is reasonably insulated except for the master bedroom that has a lot of glass. most of the house remains at 60 F to 62 F after i turned the thermostat down to 55 F.

some of the folks at this link have 2400 sq ft and 2200 sq ft house and according to them, the stove seems to do the job fine so i thought it would be fine for my 1800 sq ft
