We've had some serious snow in West Michigan. Serious snow.

The rumor has it Lake Michigan is(or has) frozen solid for the first time in many, many years. If/when this happens it will lower the average temps but also lower the snow fall - especially on the West side.
I imagine the Great lakes are "Great full" after this winter gets finished. Been a longgg time since we has seen this type of snow in Michigan.

Lake Michigan is probably only about 1/2 frozen, Lake Superior is about 80% ice covered now. Lighter winds and continued below zero nights this week so far will greatly increase the icing. Here's a recent satellite photo composite:

Local radio just reported that Holland, Michigan had 66" of snow in January alone.
Our normal for the whole winter is around 75". I know we are well over 80" of snow for the whole season.

We had 75" total snowfall well before Xmas . 75" all winter would be CAKE !

That's where all our snow went. When usually we should have about four feet on the ground now, we barely have a foot of that annoying white stuff.

Yes, this year. The blue car photo was from December, the other three are January. Tug Hill lake effect snow. It gets cold, too...
Lake Superior is now over 90% ice covered. Should be pretty much sealed up tight by the weekend.
