Looks like I may be in the market for an upgrade

Auger motor just died and debating fixing or upgrading..

Always have wanted to upgrade.. May now have a reason..

So, we have a stove review I don't seem to be able to find..

Post what your looking at or able to find and can get the answer. If your upgrading from a US stoves Forester it probably wont take much to get a nicer stove.

Stove reviews right up at the top of the page under the Hearth.com logo.

Bio.. Yup, won't take much I agree!
CoDave.. Saw that and really doesn't do the trick unless you already have an idea of what you're after..

I have to say, for what I paid for the Forrester, it really has done the trick.
I never wanted a house warmer, just a small space warmer in the basement.
It actually did much more..
Sorry to say USSC never spent the time with it (or listened) to make it better..

Update is the motor is fine, the Auger isn't moving..
I'm going to break it down this weekend and see if there's a shear pin in there..
Please don't tell my wife.. She's up for a new one!!

I'm after something in the same size range
30-50,000 to heat the area downstairs
No problem with a single bagger
Would just like to step into a quality stove.

With the cold blitz starting here late November, December ranked in the top 10 coldest and January did not let up and the forecast is not to see a normal temp till middle of next week. One of those years one could get the payback on a stove in a season as propain is around $5.20 here. I figured for the last couple days that it stayed below 0 the one day savings exceed $30. Calculated on a biomass(corn and pellets) use of 90 lbs. Only propain used in the house right now has been the pilot light on the freestanding stove for a power out emergency. If the wife's up for a new one who's to argue. There is some nice stoves out there. Get a list of wants and needs and stop back.

Went to a local shop and saw the St Croix Element
Very nice unit!
He also offered an Enviro of the same size, but stated he liked the St Croix as well.

What disappointed me was the price.
"Small does mean less money" he said.

Now that I have my Forrester running again (for $16), and know he has one in the showroom..
I'll wait till end of season and make him an offer.

Anyone know what the mark-up is for these Stove Shops?
They're decent folks and would like to be fair about an offer.

If the propain issue is not resolved I don't think that the stoves will be discounted as some shops are saying there is a waiting period for getting a stove. MN CL postings for a good make of stove have disappeared. Propain is down to $3.60
