What's my problem...? Lopi Liberty

I have a Lopi Liberty I purchased used. It is a newer moder with the upper damper. I installed a new Lopi door gasket and when the stove is cold it seems to be very tight to close and then seems much looser as the stove heats.

This morning getting the stove restarted from coals I noticed I could see a sliver of light coming from the bottom left through the gasket - even though it felt tight to close. I'm sure I got the gasket in the channel.

Part of the gasket sits inside the front opening then is "squished" against the frame so there is a slight lip being created on the inside of the opening.

Jus about a 3-inch sliver along the bottom left...the rest shows no light... I HOPE its not warped...

Put a straightedge to the door to check if it's warped, worst case you can buy a new door.

I hope it is not warped too jkazak. Maybe also check your latch/nut mechanism for the door handle. I have a lopi freedom insert(same door) that the nut that holds the latch and handle will loosen over time. I keep a wrench on the hearth and retighten it ever two or three times I open the door.

Not only that, put a level or a straight board across the front of the stove to make sure the front isn't warped. I don't see how the front could possibly be warped but you just never know

I had to continually adjust the latch bolt on my Endeavor until I got another brass nut the same size thread as the original and adjusted the mechanism similar to the way you would adjust a bicycle hub (tighten bolts/nuts against each other). I don't have to adjust it any more!

It is possible with the size gasket they use on Lopi to have te gasket thicker in some spots. I hhave seen it done where it was thicker at the latch than other spots . When you go around the corners you have to be careful not to stretch the gasket.

Mine is old enough to use new rope about every 2 years, Use even pressure when applying. Pull the door in the summer, or in my case doors.(I have 2)
